Good Cattle & Golden Hour >>>

The past month has been a complete blur around here. All of the pairs are gathered and home, which is a big sigh of relief. This year’s calf crop continues to impress us more and more each day. We’re getting them started on feed, and soon the calves will pack on the pounds in the lot.

Despite all the craziness, I did manage to take a few pictures this fall. Enjoy!

Life is good & the grass is green. We have been blessed this spring!

February 18, 2024 - What a beautiful day ☀️

We spent some time this afternoon walking through the bred heifers & early calving cows. Some of them will start calving in just a couple short weeks 😬 We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this nice weather will stick around. Bring on the sunshine & mild weather!

That empty lot feeling…

The trucks arrived early this morning & away we went loading feeder calves. Now that the hustle and bustle is over, the mood is a bit more somber. BUT we couldn’t be more excited for our hard work & dedication to pay off.

Ranchers work 365 days a year for one big payday. We get to know each & every calf from the day they were born until now. Each group is truly special. The 2023 calf crop definitely lived up to our expectations (and then some 😬).

We are extra grateful for the strong cattle markets this year. Hopefully they’ll decide to stick around for a while longer. Here’s to sale day, along with a little luck! See you tomorrow in Devils Lake 👋🏻

Holy… it’s been a hot minute 🔥

Don’t worry, we’re still here! Calving, planting & hauling pairs to pasture have been keeping us busy. We know any rancher can relate, there’s no better feeling than seeing cows on green grass. Now we can breathe a sigh of relief!

Calving kicked into high gear yesterday… and it’s only going to get busier! Our daily calf count ended at 11, with another 4 new ones by 4:30am this morning. Here’s our second set of twins born yesterday. (We love a good set of baldies 😬) However, momma wasn’t too fond of the people trying to scoop them up. Cheers to calving season!

One is not like the other 🤔

Who says you can’t have fun while calving? Tanner was enjoying the sunshine last weekend while waiting for a bred heifer to calf. Apparently he made some friends, too!

Calving is starting to heat up around here. Wish we could say the same about the weather… 😅 Six heifers have calved so far, with several more who could go any day. Our mature cows will hopefully hold out for another two weeks.

It’s definitely taken a lot more preparation for this calving season. We are continuously praying for no more snow & warmer temperatures. Until then, happy calving all!

We shipped feeder calves today.

It’s always bittersweet to see the trucks go down the road. That feeling never fades. You truly get to know each & every calf from the day they were born until now. Each group is special to us, & the 2022 calf crop sure got lots of extra love & labor [thanks Mother Nature 😅]

For ranchers, the big payday comes once a year. We are grateful for the more favorable cattle markets this year! Fingers crossed that they remain strong & steady🤞🏼

The calves have been on a mixed ration for 90 days. Many of the females are also replacement quality. They sell tomorrow, February 28, at Lake Region Livestock in Devils Lake.
