The chives have started to pop, so it's time to start making blossom-infused vinegar! We make a few batches every season because chive blossom vinegar is THE best marinade and dressing base.

Plus, it's a pinkish-purple hue once it's ready! 🌸💜

An FYI:
I'm continuing to pivot away from offering home kitchen & bakery items {due to both rising ingredient cost & my physical limitations}, and shift back to my roots of creating art and crafting.

Honestly, I've been an artist my whole life. Photography, candles, papercrafts, jewelry, soap & beauty products, gift baskets, wreaths, beeswax wraps, scrappy sewing, essential oil blends, embroidery... at one point or another, I've spent time creating & selling each of those items either through my og retired etsy shop or word of mouth.

Over the years, I always thought the key was to "niche down" and pick ONE and stick to it. I did not thrive with that mentality and got bored quickly, so I would cycle through different crafts & artforms. Then life got busy and my craftiness just sort of fell off the radar for me.

I've slowly been dipping my toes back in, though. Nowadays, I create for the fun of it, when inspiration strikes, and to make things that fill me with joy. I hope you find joy in what I make as well! 💖

April is here, which means it's time for seed starting here in Zone 6a*! 👩‍🌾

Today, we started 6 varieties of tomatoes, 3 varieties of peppers, 2 varieties of cucumbers, zucchini, and green bean. 🌱🍎🫑🌶🥒

*USDA updated maps in the Fall of 2023 and we've changed from 5b to 6a (a warm up of 5°F), which is something I need to keep reminding myself 🫠

This time last year I was in the midst of holiday baking and cooking - making you dinners of homemade soup & bread and baking you cookies of all kinds for treat trays.... then my hepatobiliary system decided to quit on me and I had to put my life, and my business, on hold. What I thought would be a short pause turned into a very long year with many (7!) surgeries and months upon months of restrictions.

Last month, I did think I'd be able to relaunch baking and cooking, but learned real quick that my body isn't ready for that level of sustained exertion yet. So, I found another way (custom hand embroidery fiber art) to stay busy and create while I continue to heal and gain strength & build muscle back.

I plan to bring back the kitchen witchery next year - time will tell when. For now, I'll keep creating & sharing my art here and there.

Thanks for sticking around this past year, and I hope you'll continue to hang around as I navigate life on the other side of illness and figure out what's next for The Wild Witch's Homestead.

Another way I add texture (and fun!!!) to my hand embroidery is with beading. I love the way this tree glitters and the beads move, giving it a 90s vibe. 🎄
