THE LAST RUM BARREL OF THE YEAR
Join us on Thursday, June 11, 2026 from 5-8pm for a tasting of one of of the most interesting rum barrels you will ever experience. The Rhum Clément Moscatel (Muscat) Finish is a highly sought after, limited-edition expression from the prestigious Rhum Clément distillery in Martinique. The Kakos Private Cask Collection showcases a unique combination of traditional French Caribbean agricole rhum, that is accentuated by deep vanilla from Bourbon barrels and fruit driven European fortified wine barrels. This is an exotic rum, that you will not find anywhere else in Michigan, or rarely in the United Sates. This barrel release was split up between four retailers around the world. Kakos Market received a quarter of the yield. This is a delight you will not want to miss.

PENELOPE ARCHITECTS OF GOLF LIMITED EDITION
Penelope Bourbon's "Architects of Golf" is a limited-edition collection born from course fairways, not turf design. The series was inspired by the early conversations between the founders Michael Paladini and Danny Polise had on an 18-hole golf course when dreaming up their brand. The collection includes a 94-proof, 6-year-old straight bourbon (four-grain mash bill of corn, wheat, rye, and malted barley) finished with American oak staves. There are three expressions designated as "Holes" (01, 02, and 03). Each bottle increases in stave-finishing intensity and flavor complexity, offering everything from a smooth, approachable sipper to a robust, deeply toasted profile. This is a very unique concept, whether you are a bourbon drinker, golfer or both. Hope you get one. ($69.99)

MACALLAN DIAMONDS ARE FOREVER SOLD OUT
We received so many inquiries about this bottle from movie fans, architecture buffs, and scotch aficionados, but ultimately one discerning client got this special release. He is such a generous person, we are sure he will share this bottle with his closest friends. Kakos Market has a confidentiality agreement with our clients, so we can't say who it is, but some of you will know who owns this bottle when you drink this historic release of Macallan Scotch. Only 25,000 bottles of the "Diamonds Are Forever" Edition were produced.

A MACALLAN WORTHY OF JAMES BOND AND MICHIGAN?
The Macallan Diamonds Are Forever 55th Anniversary Release is a limited-edition 18-year-old Highland Single Malt Scotch created to celebrate 55 years since the premiere of the 1971 James Bond film Diamonds Are Forever. This version is aged for 18 years in bespoke "hybrid" casks made from both European and American oak staves seasoned with sherry. This Bond version also incorporates American oak casks that previously held red wine. This is a direct cinematic nod to the scene where Bond's forensic command of red wine saves his life. The Scotch was also distilled in 2007 (a clever play on 007).
COLOR: Light gold inspired by "Nevada rock" and the movie's title sequence.
NOSE: Sweet polished oak, vanilla bean, coffee, rich dried figs.
PALATE: Smooth and creamy with layers of caramel, orange zest, cocoa.
FINISH: Long, elegant, and warming with lingering notes of espresso, toasted walnut, and refined oak.
PACKAGE: The presentation cylinder features real sketches and conceptual art depicting iconic film elements like clones, laser beams, the Las Vegas lair, and the villain's white cat. The typography mimics the original 1971 movie posters, and as you drink the bottle, hidden script excerpts are revealed on the reverse side of the rear label.
PRICE: $750 (We received one bottle)
Our own Joe Kakos realized the Michigan connection to this bottle and the film. The house that was used in the scene where James Bond fights Bambi and Thumper, was designed by Marquette, Michigan native John Lautner, who happens to be Joe Kakos' favorite architect. We hope you enjoy this fusion of whisky craftsmanship, cinematic history, and a surprising Michigan connection.

Dear Scotch Aficionado,
Join us for the exclusive Ardbeg Day 2026 Tasting, only at Kakos Market this Saturday, May 30th, from 1-4 pm. Kakos is one of only 23 venues in the United States that is hosting Ardbeg Day with the global theme of "La Dolce Vita". This is the official launch of the limited edition, Ardbeg Dolce Single Malt Scotch.
-RECIPE: Ardbeg Scotch, matured in bourbon barrels and sweet Sicilian Marsala Dolce casks. This recipe was last used with the legendary 2013 Galileo release.
-PALATE: Bottled at 47.8% ABV, the whisky balances Islay's heavy smoke with Mediterranean sweetness, tasting notes of apricot, orange marmalade, dark chocolate, maple-smoked wood, and salted nuts.
