Mattie's Garden Mattie’s Garden is an urban farm located in Birmingham, AL. We raise chickens for eggs, sustainably grow fruits, herbs, microgreens, and veggies.

Our mission is to reduce food insecurity by growing food & making it accessible to all community members.

Our chickens are cool as a cucumber 🥒 Thank you guys for always asking about how things are going on the farm and our chickens. The chickens are doing great! We are implementing some small improvements to maintain the overall health of our chickens while combating this summer heat.

Quick tips for new chicken farmers*

*Add cucumber and/or watermelon to their diet- improve hydration and reduce possible heat exhaustion

*Don’t give cukes and melons daily-
Causes runny p**p 💩 and an imbalance in diet

*Ensure all water containers are not in the sun-
to prevent water overheating

So… I know I always say, “If I hatch another rooster 🐓 I am getting rid of it.” This time I can not help myself! He is soo beautiful!!! His multicolored feathers and signature emerald tail feather (from Deebo). I can’t resist. I am keeping him. What do you think? What should I name him?

Happy Fri-YAY! We are back for another beautiful Saturday Farmers Market. We missed you all last week. Our crops are still surviving this HEAT! Therefore, our line up is SMALL but MIGHTY.
