We’d like to thank Lindsay & Pete for their passion, artistry, vision, and labor of love bringing Harvest Roots to life and to all of us. What they created here in Birmingham will be sorely missed. It was a true craft in all respects from the unique recipes, to the branding, to the beautiful tasting room they opened on 3rd Ave S. At Chocolata, Kathy D’Agostino seamlessly combines her merchandising and design expertise with her passion for chocolate making, which she developed at an early age working in a chocolatier just around the corner from her family home. The shop is beautiful as are the chocolate creations. Thankfully, we get to revel in the cosmos of culinary art and magic that Kathy has created here in Birmingham.

Flashback Friday! 🕰️ Chef Susan Notter is a powerhouse in the pastry, chocolate, and sugar art world. Her shop in Pelham, , is lined with all of the wonderful awards and accolades she’s garnered over her career, a journey that has taken her to Germany, Switzerland, and now Alabama.

In 2000, she opened the Pastry and Baking division of Culinard at Virginia College where she was also an educator for many years. She’s been featured on the popular tv culinary show, , and was part of the winning team for its first season on the . Susan continues to lead USA’s / Culinary Olympic Team as the Pastry Coach in international competitions 🥇, which they were competing in last week. (👈 to see a pic. Go Team USA!).

It was wonderful showing off Susan’s expertise and artistry at C&C’s seated tastings / Seminar Tent in 2022. Last year, she joined us at a tasting table showing off her mouthwatering, single origin chocolate truffles. In the first photo of this post, you’ll see one of her beautiful creations showcasing her art of pulled and blown sugar that was part of her C&C tablescape. And if you haven’t found a sweet gift, we highly recommend a visit to her shop!

We have to say, ’s recipe, which the shop featured at C&C’s last year, hit all the right flavors and feels. It’s a definite favorite local recipe of ours, and was the perfect spring feature!
