We SOLD OUT 3/2. We are NOT opening Sunday, March 3. Because there isn’t anything to serve.

P.S. if this is the first time you’re learning of our closure, see our previous post for all the details announcing this.

It’s been a week of tears, laughter, sadness and happiness. Both can exist together. We got smashed each and every day with loving customers and support.

One of the big questions we heard this week was “Could we (as customers) have done more?”

Absolutely not. Our customers were the bright star of our business. We feel like we won the lottery with the lot of you, your support, care and consideration was unparalleled. We routinely reflected on how incredible our customer base was as a team. So THANK YOU. We mean it.

Though it was death by a thousand cuts, in the end, Lindsay and I made this decision for ourselves, for our lives, and for our careers.

Much love to everyone.

With hearts full of gratitude, we want to share that we have decided to close Harvest Roots Kombucha. We will have regular service and hours Thursday 2/29 through Sunday 2/3.

This was a difficult decision to make, but we know it is the right one. Our aspirations and dreams of what Harvest Roots would become have come true - a space that so clearly went beyond just serving a tart, bubbly soda. It was a gathering ground for brilliant discussions, emotions shared on bad days and great days, sober friendships, artisan beverage nerds, activism, local art and music, and dance parties.

Our last day is this Sunday, March 3rd. Don’t be a stranger, come celebrate, come be sad, come and buy one growler or twenty, come and just say hello to us and sit there. Everything is 50% off and we’re also selling fixtures and plants.

Our name Harvest Roots, is a homage to never forgetting where we came from and the ecosystem that has supported us. This modest but effervescent fermentation company would never have been possible without every team member that stepped foot in HR over the last 10 years. This dream would not have sustained itself without the incredible support of our customers and vendors.

As customers who spent their hard earned money here, you deserve some context. Though we are making this decision ourselves, there were circumstances that made running this business really challenging - opening during a pandemic, issues with contracts, other infrastructural challenges like our walk-in failure, and beyond. In no way are we interested in excuses, as this was all our responsibility, but they are big pressures on already small margins within a challenging small business ecosystem across our whole country.

Endings are also just new beginnings, and our relationship with community, be it microbes or humans, will only evolve. We look forward to remaining connected to the vibrant food and beverage ecosystem of Alabama and the Southeast.

If you’re interested in expanding fermentation practices in your restaurant or behind your bar, we’re always an open door. DM us to email.

CLOUD. Available Thursday in taproom only.

“Yesterday the tea was a cloud up in the sky but today it has become the tea in my glass.” - Thích Nhất Hạnh

Life, a practice of impermenance. Fermentation no different. Business no different. Flavor no different.

Made with decadent salted plums, kombu seaweed, bright yuzu citrus, and washed with Carolina Gold Rice middlins - a texture building method from cocktail culture.

Limited run so if you want it, buy it swiftly.

Thank you.

It was spring yesterday, but today has brought winter vibes. Come enjoy a nice pot of tea. This is one of our favorites rituals to start the week: a pot of tea, a journal and some good intentions for the week ahead.

BLANCO IS BACK.

One of our most popular kombucha’s of 2023, BLANCO is dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops that accentuate our white grape forward house culture with its white wine and citrus tones.

Aged on French Oak, this kombucha has a distinct white wine-like character. Whether Dry January or not, this is a world class cup of N/A bubbles.

Draft, and growler beginning Thursday. Grab it in a flight with our other seasonal favorites. You don’t want to miss this.
