No Farm Bill without COOL!

The House Agriculture Committee is expected to begin Farm Bill markup next week.

This is a critical window to include mandatory country-of-origin labeling for beef.

At a time when families are paying close attention at the meat case, they deserve to know exactly where their beef comes from. MCOOL would give consumers the ability to choose between American-raised beef and cheaper imported beef.

Thanksgiving is about harvest season for us at Bones Brothers Ranch and Omega Beef Wagyu. It’s a time to count blessings. Ours are many. For us, harvest or shipping season, is the culmination of a year’s work. We do our best to care for land, grass, and animals. For years, generations really, our passion and our work is making sure our grass and pastures, especially those close to home, are well cared for and abundant as we bring cattle home from summer pasture. This season after two devastating wild fires our cattle came home through miles of burned land. They came home to hay. Despite the challenges that included a snow storm and temperature drop the day before shipping, our calves were beautiful, full and fat. We had hay to feed them thanks to the generosity of our agricultural community and many of you. We have family gathered. We had, and have, the help of the best neighbors on shipping day. The winter will certainly test us. But today we are beyond grateful to get our Bones Brothers Ranch calves to market. We send them off with our love, respect, hard work, gratitude, and more than a few tears. As we were leaving the sale, an elderly gentleman said, “nice bunch of cattle.” It took a lot not hug him and embarrass us all. I heard my Dad’s voice in his kind words, and said, “Thank you.” ❤️

Let’s make calls and get our senators to get COOL reinstated! Thanks thanks!

Montana's ranchers deserve the right to an honest market, and consumers deserve the right to choose USA beef. Without Mandatory Country-of-Origin Labeling (COOL) for beef, we don't have the freedom to exercise those rights. The result? Massive meatpacking conglomerates get even bigger, more family ranchers go out of business, our open ranchlands get bought up by wealthy land developers, and consumers pay more for inferior, imported beef. It's not right.

The best way to restore COOL is to ensure it's in the 2024 Farm Bill.

Senator Mike Rounds of South Dakota is asking fellow senators to sign a letter to the chair of the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee (Sen. Debbie Stabenow) and the ranking member of the Senate Agriculture Committee (Sen. John Boozman) demanding that COOL is included in the Farm Bill.
