In October 2025, ASI officially asked the U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) to investigate the impact of lamb imports on U.S. producers. Last month, USTR recommended an International Trade Commission (ITC) investigation.

This is a great step forward, but there is still a lot of work to come. ASI remains actively engaged in advancing the case and representing the interests of U.S. sheep producers as the process moves forward.

ASI has developed a grower/feeder questionnaire for U.S. sheep producers to share their information for the 201 Trade Case. Broad distribution of this questionnaire will give every grower and feeder an opportunity to participate. Good news!

The U.S. Trade Representative (USTR) responded to ASI's request to investigate the impact of lamb imports on U.S. producers by recommending ITC investigation. The ITC is collecting testimony and data throughout the next month.
