๐ฟ Has anyone else had a super slow start to their garden this year? ๐ฟ
Our herb garden seems to be taking its sweet Oklahoma time, but little by little, it's finally starting to come alive!
This year's garden is packed with all kinds of fragrant goodness: lemon basil, lime basil, sweet basil, Thai basil, bee balm, lemongrass, rosemary, several varieties of mint, sage, and more thymes than I can count. Of course, no self-respecting Italian herb garden would be complete without tomatoes, oregano, and parsley! We've also got cilantro and chives tucked in alongside our peppers, plus zucchini and plenty of other garden beauties making their appearance.
One of my favorite things about growing herbs is finding fun ways to use them beyond the kitchen. Fresh herbs make the most refreshing additions to our sun-brewed iced teas, infused waters, and homemade lemonades. Right now, my favorite combination is lime basil and pineapple thyme in lemonadeโit's bright, refreshing, and tastes like summer in a glass! ๐๐ฟ
And let's be honest... fresh herbs can also take an afternoon cocktail from ordinary to extraordinary. ๐นโจ A sprig of mint, a few leaves of basil, or a touch of rosemary adds the perfect garden-fresh twist and makes sipping on the patio even more enjoyable.
There's something so satisfying about stepping outside, snipping a handful of fresh herbs, and bringing a little garden magic straight to the table.
What's growing best in your garden this year? And have you discovered any favorite herb combinations for drinks, cocktails, or recipes? I'd love to hear! ๐ฑ๐
