Community Supported Garden at Genesis Farm

Community Supported Agriculture gives an opportunity for a community of people to take responsibility for supporting a farm.

Since 1988, the CSG at Genesis Farm has been growing tasty, nutritious food year-round for our members, using practices that help regenerate the soil, compensate farmers fairly, and preserve open space for future generations. It is a partnership between the farmers and the people who directly benefit from the food. These local people share the abundance as well as the risks and costs of cultivatin

g the land in the most responsible manner. As members come onto the farm they can reconnect with the land, the food, the farmers and the seasons. The farm started as a small CSA share program in1988 and has grown to its current options that include over a hundred different vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers, seasonal or year round distribution, fields newly dedicated to grain (oats, barley,wheat,rye), and a thriving apprenticeship program. The CSG has always been a place of care for the earth and the eater. It serves to remind people of the origin of their food, that food comes from the land and that the manner in which the food is grown dramatically impacts the health of the earth. Food from the CSG is not about an end product on a shelf. It is the high quality, fresh, raw, unprocessed naturally grown vegetables, fruits and herbs harvested directly from the fields and consumed with few miles between field and dinner table. Members also have the occasion to get to know their neighbors in the distribution center, as well as the Fall Harvest Festival and Pot Luck, other community events, and right in the fields while picking their own flower bouquets, berries, hardy kiwis, and a few other pyo items. Some of the options available to CSG members include seasonal or year round shares, weekly or biweekly pickups, on farm or satellite pickup locations. We're heading back to the Mill for another pop-up market with our friends at Campagna Cafe & Coffee Roasters, and we'll be bringing the best of what's fresh and in season.

This week's lineup includes:
• Salad radishes
• Sweet potatoes
• Lettuce
• Escarole
• White Lake salad turnips
• Kohlrabi & more!

Whether you're stocking up on your weekly veggies, treating yourself to an iced coffee or seasonal latte, or just looking for a relaxed Saturday morning, we've got you. We'll be there from 9am-12pm.

We'd LOVE Your Help at the Farm This Week! No Experience Needed!

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Everyone is welcome—bring your friends or family and spend some time with us!

This Friday, we'll be singulating our winter squash seedlings. Once the seedlings have developed their first set of true leaves, we carefully trim the weaker sprouts at the soil line, giving the strongest plants the room they need to grow into healthy, productive plants. ✂️🌱

There will also be opportunities to help wash pots and trays as we continue through our busy transplanting season. Best of all, this task will be done in the cool shade outside the distribution center! 💦😎

1st week of our 38th season is in the books! We’re just getting started, and we are so grateful to be back for another season! 💚

Despite record breaking temps, we braved the heat and carried on! Our members went home with a yummy BOUNTY of deliciousness this week, including all the fixings for perfect spring salads — colorful radishes and our very own White Lake turnips, grown from seed right here on the farm! Arugula joined the party, too, along with green garlic — a special seasonal treat with a mild, sweet garlic-onion flavor that’s perfect for sautéed dishes and one's cooking needs!

What a weekend!!!!!

Is anyone else still basking in the joy and energy of Saturday’s Open House at the farm?!!!! 🥰✨️

The days leading up to it were full—planning, organizing, cleaning, setting up… and then doing it all over again. From gathering tables and chairs to preparing fresh farm foods, it truly was a labor of love. And through it all, so many of you stepped in to share your time, talents, and heart. That shared passion carried the day.

Time and time again, you show what true community looks like—and what a gift it is to be part of something like this.

Thank you to everyone who came, contributed, and supported this year’s event. It truly does take a village—and we’re so grateful for this one!!!!
