Farm Life
It’s has it’s good days and bad days. I never thought I would be a farmer’s wife and some days I try not to be, but when it comes down to it, I love living in the country (well we plan to live more in the country). I really do enjoy gardening and growing food for my family and you can’t beat the fresh fruits and veggies right on your table. I even love all the baby animals that we get, and Myra especially has enjoyed the animals in fact she calls some of them hers and some Maisie’s. But here comes the hard part, you end up loving the animals and really caring for them which I believe is important because if you dont have a heart for them than you really wont give them the proper care they need and you wont enjoy your farm. Joe always says when you are going to have live animals your bound at some point to have dead ones.
So this is one of those bad days where we had to put down one of our goats. We had three little girls born this past winter and because they were born on one of the coldest days we ended up naming them Macchiato, Latte, and Espresso. We had planned on keeping all three little Nanny’s in order to grow our herd, but Espresso got herself in a freak accident and broke her leg bad, so with a heavy heart we had to put her down. She was considered Maisie’s goat, who isn’t going to really understand because she is one, but Myra who is 3 knows and will be learning and sadly understanding more about death. That is the part that breaks my heart more. So excuse me while I go cry over a goat. Maybe some think its silly or crazy, but when you care and love so much, than you will also have to deal with the hurt and the hard days. I guess in the end it’s just more conformation that I’m a farmer’s wife and these things are bound to happen. Yes it’s life, but it doesn’t make it any easier.
Edit, I got the wrong goat, turns out it was actually Myra’s goat so this will be hard explaining to a three year old.
