Year eight of Choestoe Farms pumpkins and another sold out season! 🎃

Every year, it's hard for us to believe it's pumpkin time already, and then before we know it- it has come and gone. Every growing and harvest season brings exciting new pumpkins, familiar faces, and the excitement of welcoming fall. The outstanding support of our community, friends, and family continues to amaze us, and we truly appreciate everyone who pours into our little farm.

As we begin field clean-up in preparation for the next season, we are excited to see what our future here in the Choestoe Valley brings. Again, we thank you and wish you and your family the best fall season! 🍂

Much love and many pumpkins,
Chris & Dixie

GA Record! 👀
Marilyn isn't the only personal record we've been growing in the field this year!

This year we tried our hand in growing a giant butternut, and currently hold the Georgia state record. A huge thank you to the Lake Burton Fish Hatchery for helping us and allowing us to use their certified scale to record this milestone. We thought with this unique shape, the name Peanut was fitting.🥜 Peanut currently holds the butternut record for Georgia at 66.16 pounds!

In the competition field of any giant, our no fertilizer, no irrigation, and only organic approved methods are not common, so we are excited to set this record.

This category is relatively new for butternut squash, and there is plenty of room for growth. 😉 For those interested in growing their own Peanut, we will have some seeds available on our open weekends!

Marilyn Growth Update: We are hesitant to say her weight, so we'll keep you guessing! 🎃

Even though her growth has slowed to averaging around nine pounds a day, her beautiful orange glow is absolutely stunning. Size-wise, she is currently the largest pumpkin we've ever grown, but her weight could be a different story at the final weigh-in.

Marilyn's Pumpkin Lineage
-Marilyn is a seed from Oscar (2023- 359lbs) .
-Oscar was a seed from Big John (2021- 236lbs).
-Big John was a seed pollinated by Chuck.
-Chuck was our original big pumpkin in 2019 weighing 390lbs.

Like all of our pumpkins, our giant pumpkins, do not receive any irrigation or fertilizers, and we only use naturally occurring fungicides and beneficial bacteria as pesticides. Making these giants perfectly fine to eat...if you actually needed that many pies. 🥧

Choestoe Farms September Pumpkin Dates:
September 12th & 13th 1:00pm-7:00pm
September 19th & 20th 1:00pm-7:00pm

*Further September and October Dates to be announced based on availability *

Marilyn 🎃
She's the largest pumpkin we've ever grown with a waist circumference over 10 feet around...but will she make it to the barn for our opening days? 🤞

Choestoe Farms Pumpkin September Dates:
September 12th & 13th 1:00pm-7:00pm
September 19th & 20th 1:00pm-7:00pm
*Further September and October Dates to be announced based on availability *

We are still doctoring her split multiple times a day in hopes she will heal and make it to the barn. She's such a beauty, we want you all to see her there! 🤩
