Marilyn Growth Update: We are hesitant to say her weight, so we'll keep you guessing! 🎃

Even though her growth has slowed to averaging around nine pounds a day, her beautiful orange glow is absolutely stunning. Size-wise, she is currently the largest pumpkin we've ever grown, but her weight could be a different story at the final weigh-in.

Marilyn's Pumpkin Lineage
-Marilyn is a seed from Oscar (2023- 359lbs) .
-Oscar was a seed from Big John (2021- 236lbs).
-Big John was a seed pollinated by Chuck.
-Chuck was our original big pumpkin in 2019 weighing 390lbs.

Like all of our pumpkins, our giant pumpkins, do not receive any irrigation or fertilizers, and we only use naturally occurring fungicides and beneficial bacteria as pesticides. Making these giants perfectly fine to eat...if you actually needed that many pies. 🥧

She's the largest pumpkin we've ever grown with a waist circumference over 10 feet around...but will she make it to the barn for our opening days? 🤞

Marilyn has now surpassed 500 pounds! 🚨

Over the past two weeks since her introduction, Marilyn hit some peak growth, averaging more than 25 pounds a day and still growing! However, this fast growth has raised a concerning split that we are diligently managing. In an effort to slow the early growth, we've allowed a second pumpkin to set on the same plant- which is already over 300 pounds (see picture in comments). 🎃

There's a while until pumpkin time, so we are hoping she will hold on and heal up by then. 🤞

As with all of our pumpkins, our giant pumpkins do not receive any irrigation or fertilizers, and we only use naturally occurring fungicides and beneficial bacteria as pesticides. Because of this, reaching the 500-pound mark is quite a challenge for us, but so rewarding!

Nothing like a good overhead view to really see the size on the pumpkin patch! 🎃

We are in a full pumpkin jungle now as our plants are setting and growing their fruits. It's exciting to see all our varieties popping up among the leaves and vines!

Don't worry - with all the pumpkin talk, we haven't forgotten about the sunflowers. 🌻 🌻 🌻

Four beautiful rows are succession planted and ready for our pumpkin weekends this fall. So, if our timing is right, we should have a row blooming for each September weekend. They are always one of our favorite parts of welcoming pumpkin season. 🎃

Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Marilyn. 🎃

With her father seed being Oscar, who weighed 359 lbs, we have great hopes for this beauty. At 17 days old, she's currently weighing in around 240 pounds, and if this continues- she's hopefully about to hit her stride.

We'll see if she's the biggest in the patch this year. 😉

Waist-high in July! 👏

The pumpkin patch is growing in all directions, including up! These plants are taking advantage of the rain showers and hot July sun.

We really had to high-step to get this far out in the patch, but it was worth it. There's some hidden gems out there already! 🎃

Yellow blooms mean pumpkins are soon, and some are already here! 🎃

The field is turning into a pumpkin vine jungle, and we'll be peeking under the canopy to see what's in store for this season.

A few tents may even be going up soon. 😎 And if you know what that means, it should be exciting!
