Just get done with Valentines Day dinner...it was lamb 🤷‍♀️...and checked the cameras just at the right time! A giant set of twins that needed some help to join the farm! A ram that has to be named Cupid an even bigger ewe that will be called Flower ❤️❤️

In one week, the barn went from empty to full! Lambing has officially began with the arrival of a ram and ewe last night and our boys from the stockyard are all doing well so they got names ❤️❤️ And the kittens we added a few months ago are loving the new roommates ❤️

No lambs yet so I'll give a baby calf update since we went to the stockyard and brought some home....

Everyone was up and everyone drank their milk with the exception of our little half pint guy...he was still alive (win) and did get up (bonus) but he got another dose of electrolytes!

This guy is our whiner and escapee...he is never quiet and is pretty good at figuring out how to get out of his pen. But he is cute 😍

*no that's not blood...it's livestock paint. I'm guessing the farm he came from had an overzealous worker that had fun marking calves for auction 🤣

New heat lamps arrived (I upgraded to the nicer ones that won't make my insurance agent cringe and really wish I'd done it sooner), 3 double packs of bulbs ready, everyone is in the barn, 3 of the 4 cameras working but I just realized I don't think I put the antenna extension back on the 4th camera so that's probably the issue, towels and all things for after birth ready...and just in time because these ladies are poppin! To the people that have asked what I'd be doing with my time after the wedding, we made it just in time for lambing season to start! The most stressful, exhausting, exciting, and usually rewarding time of year...until hay season 😉

but in 2024 🤣

Weather change means barn cleaning added to evening chores! All scraped out and rebedded with fresh wood chips!

Decided with the weather forecast we had better take advantage of a clear day and clean all the cattle barns and get it spread! Four hours and four very large loads of manure later and everyone is clean and dry!

Sometimes I feel like I'm getting better about knowing when they are going to lamb and then there are days like today that I check the camera while in town and am like 'oh crap'...thankfully my dad was close by! Still waiting to see if Belle has a few more in there since she had triplets last year! I couldn't feel hooves coming but I'm not convinced she's only having one! And it's a girl!
