Shuck or no shuck? Some of the pecans fall out of the shuck when we shake the tree or when the harvester picks them up; however, many of them don’t. Some need a little help and some need a lot of help. Those we manually shuck. Then there are others that no amount of help will save them. They were just not meant to be. When the shucking is done, the pecans are weighed and put in the dryer. The end of harvest is near, but it’s not over yet. Follow us on FB to see what’s next!

And this my friends is how it all begins…pecans ready to be shucked, buckets set up under a shade tree, hard working hands (small and large) and lots of great conversations. There will be some teaching, some learning and some conversations that will make you laugh! Safety is a must - the boys are using butter knives. They are very pleased their shucking skills have improved since last year! Pecan Harvest 2026 has officially begun! Follow us for updates.
