George & I had a 12-hour bee day yesterday! 6 hours of that was spent on the road traveling to and from Grifton, NC - by far the farthest I’ve traveled for a bee job. But it was under special circumstances ☺️

We were able to rescue a colony from Grifton Hall and spend time getting to know the homeowners, interior designers John & Del, who are just as lovely as their home!

Unfortunately there are signs this colony isn’t thriving… but I will do my best to give them a fighting chance!

They’re settled into a temporary location for now while I work on getting them healthy before eventually moving them closer to my other hives. 🐝

This honey bee colony moved into a meter box and the city called me to remove it. I could tell they had recently swarmed by the multiple empty swarm cells, a young queen and little brood present. They have now been safely relocated to the farm 🙂
