This is one of the most devastating mistakes of my breeding career. I don’t even know where to begin to fix this.

This is my hatch record book. Every single chick banded with a one of a kind color pattern for that single chick, every critical trait and parent pair recorded. raised to four weeks, wing banded and new notes taken… all breeders tracked and keepers every year are based on these notes after a breeding season. Lines are paired based on these notes. Everything I do here was based on these notes.

I forgot to bring it inside last night and it rained all night. Two years of careful record keeping gone. Just gone.

I’m just sick. What a stupid, stupid mistake.

🎉 Beginning in August, Red Barn Silkies will be launching a FREE live educational series on our main page dedicated to youth in the poultry fancy!

Throughout the series, we’ll cover topics including:
🐔 Conditioning birds for the show ring
🛁 Proper bathing and grooming techniques
🏆 Cooping in and preparing at the show
🎤 Showmanship tips and confidence in the ring
💡 What judges are looking for
❤️ And so much more!

At Red Barn, we believe the future of the poultry fancy is our youth. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, we’re here to help encourage, educate, and support the next generation of exhibitors.

This series is completely FREE for all youth exhibitors. While everyone is welcome to watch and learn, we kindly ask that the live Q&A portion be reserved for kids and families who have youth interested in learning and participating in the fancy. We want to make sure our young exhibitors have every opportunity to ask questions and gain confidence.

My dear friend Yvonne is having a sale and Ralph is offering transport on his upcoming route!!!

I will be picking up here at Heavenly Hydrangea Silkie & Satin Farm / Mountain View Bulldogs on my return trip of the transport most likelybeing on tge weekend of the 18-19th thats the plan so far anyway. She is having a large reduction sale, not only her breeding pens but multiple incubators & variety of Frenchie & English could also be ready.
My return route is filling up quickly & not sure if Im running across I90 then down to Corning or Down I88 to Binghamton along I86 the whole way back to the Southern Tier.
I only have 2 confirmations of stops. Anything else is rumor & speculation so dont wait until after Im full.
