This might not look like much, but it’s the first time this combine has had a heartbeat in almost two years. Fresh D436 overhaul after the engine cracked a sleeve at 4224 hours. After a few heat cycles I’ll re-torque the head, and finish getting it ready for harvesting soybeans in a few weeks.

Did some tear down on the combine engine today… #6 cylinder is a catastrophic failure. Heavy scoring on the piston and sleeve, the sleeve is cracked 3/4+ the way around. Very lucky it didn’t wind up in the oil pan! Rod bearing is worn but smooth, the crank journal looks great. I’ll check the crank with mics, it might not even need ground.

Started tearing apart the combine engine today… didn’t break a single manifold bolt. It was a good morning!
