Nothing better than having your spring plants in the ground. Next up are the peonies which I’m hoping to get at the end of this month beginning of November (I’ll email you if you bought roots !)

Every job not matter what has its own level of suck. I say this in the nicest way possible. But it’s true. Flower farming has levels of “suck” like labeling, digging, washing, drying, dividing, storing and watching these tubers all winter.

But here we are. Every fall. It’s time to do this thing again. So we can enjoy dahlias next year and hopefully have enough to sell come spring.

So much of this to get those beautiful bouquets into your hands come spring.

Our season of fresh flowers has ended. The frost has spared us yet. But I’m officially calling it. I need to have this cutoff. I can’t wait for the hard frost to declare it over.

The fall is dedicated to preparing for spring. So much work to be done. Planting. Prepping beds. Cutting peonies down. And planting more whenever they arrive. Dahlias to be dug and divided. Work that demands attention in a quieter way.

Can’t wait for spring bc I wanna see these new flowers. But I’m happy it’s fall. I get to settle things in and then enjoy the slower seasons.

Sourdough people SOS save my bread lol.

Currently using farm house on Boones sourdough sandwich bread recipe but I struggle to make a consistent loaf.

Sometimes the loaf is raw.
Sometimes it splits across or busts open on the side.

My yeast bread is great and usually pretty consistent but the sourdough is something else. Send me your tips and recipes and tricks please

I know it’s controversial nowadays to starting talking about the holidays early but here’s what people don’t see…

We gotta plan ahead! We need to set the dates, order the supplies before they’re gone, make the event magical, make sure we have enough help to pull it off, and then sell the tickets!

I’m not trying to rush anyone but it’s the reality of the situation.

This year I currently have 3 sessions for whichever experience you’d be interested.

I was invited by the Spencer county extension office to teach and the Bulleit Distilling Co Visitor Experience .

Dates 11/28 12/5 12/12

Your spring bouquets start now. Mhm. That’s right. We plant now to harvest next year 🤯 sounds crazy but it’s not.

There’s two groups of flowers. Ones that love heat and the others that require cold. The spring blooming ones are the latter.

Spring and fall are some of our busier seasons. Between bed prep, planting, harvesting we also need to sell the flowers to keep doing what we are doing.

Im looking forward to our bouquet subscriptions. And growing specifically for drying and wreath making.

So many things in the process… but we gotta be patient

Crazy how quickly things can change in just a matter of months. Plus yall already know how time goes when you get older too. Shew.

First year planting in this new area. We even got the tubers in the ground wayyy late.

Now we are about ready to label each one, chop ‘em, dig ‘em, divide ‘em and put them into storage until next year.

I’ll share more in that process as we go through it. And hopefully we will have a tuber sale next year so you can grow some beautiful dahlias too !
