Today is a difficult day for me. October 1st marks another year that has passed since my mother left the living realm in 2023.
My letter for you in heaven.
Dear Mom, not a single day goes by when you aren't in my thoughts, and the tears still fall just as heavily.
I find reminders of you everywhere I turn—in a song playing on the radio, a sudden whiff of smoke, or the familiar scent of someone wearing your fragrance. Most of all, I see you in the smiles and milestone achievements of my children. Little Iris, especially, carries your beautiful colors.
I still find you everywhere. I felt your presence twice in Florida: when a dragonfly landed on Iris, and again when I crossed paths with your literal doppelgänger—I couldn't help but approach her with tears streaming down my face just to tell her how much she looked like you. I feel your presence in Queens, in Danielson, in New Britain, and, of course, every single day in our home.
I take comfort in knowing that you are resting peacefully with God. But only He truly knows just how deeply we miss you down here, and how much we wish you were still with us.
You are loved beyond words, Mom. Until we meet again.
Love,
Stacey
