We lost Tarantino this week. Tarantino was special to our program and has been a staple of our sow herd and so many others. It doesn’t matter how long we have been raising livestock we have one come along every few years that truly teaches us everlasting lessons. Tarantino was one that fits in that category. He sired pigs a little greener as babies that matured 3 dimensionally. He sired both barrows and gilts that could win at the highest levels. He taught us that when we build our sow herd around correctness of skeleton and immaturity, we set ourselves up with versatility on the female side. Tarantino was a great sire and made his impact as grandparent stock. He will be missed but his impact will be felt for generations to come.

It’s sale week and I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to talk about this boar to the public. I’m honestly a bit torn because this is one on those moments that I’m actually a bit nervous. 95-1 isn’t one that comes along here every crop. On one hand I want to keep this boar around and on the other hand I know that I’m not always in the position to offer one that I’m this proud of. To get to the point, Claws has been as influential and as much of a difference maker as any boar that we have had here in our program in the last 25 years. Not only has he been able to sire ones that can win at the highest level, but his descendants have proven to be true generators as well. Claws had arguably as good of a year in 2025 as any boar in the county and this spring his offspring have proven their worth. Those Claws daughters have been incredible and a Claws son (Drizzle) sired the Champion Cross in the second wave at Houston. The mother of 95-1 is 82-1 (CC76 x Tarantino) and has proven to be a high impact sow in our program. Her daughter (a full sister to 95-1) 100-1, was one of our highlight show gilts from last summer racking up about a dozen banners and finishing her show career as Grand Gilt at Kentucky State Fair for the Hager family. There’s not much I can tell you about 95-1 that you can’t see in the video. This is one we are ultra proud of. Wherever he goes we will try to do our part to help prove him as a sire. We welcome any and all visitors to come see 95-1 in person. He’s definitely worth a look. Thank you to NSR for providing this platform to offer our stock and thank you to everyone who has reached out so far.
