Bloomingfoods is a community-owned cooperative grocery store in Bloomington, Indiana since 1976. We promote healthy, high quality, sustainable, and environmentally-sound products at a fair price. Our commitment to sustainable agriculture, artisanal producers of local products, and delicious regional foods are a few of the things that set us apart. Our Ends Statement:
People in Bloomington and Sout

h Central Indiana will have…
• A market for local, fair and healthful products, produced with care for the land, animals, and future generations.
• A democratic cooperative-ownership model that provides meaningful employment and strengthens the community.
• A robust and sustainable local food economy with fair prices for producers and all owner-members.
• Access to education on food systems, cooperative values, and the interconnectedness of food, health, and the environment. About Cooperatives:
Cooperatives (Co-ops) are member-owned, member-governed businesses that operate for the benefit of their owner-members according to common principles agreed upon by the international cooperative community. Co-ops are based on the values of self-help, self-responsibility, democracy, equality, equity, and solidarity. In the tradition of their founders, cooperative members believe in the ethical values of honesty, openness, social responsibility, and caring for others. Co-ops are built on seven core principles:
• Voluntary and open membership
• Democratic member control
• Member economic participation
• Autonomy and independence
• Education, training and information
• Cooperation among cooperatives
• Concern for community

All Co-ops contain the following elements:
• Co-ops are owned and governed by their primary users (the owner-members).
• Co-ops are democratically governed (one owner-member, one vote).
• Co-ops are businesses, not clubs or associations.
• Co-ops adhere to internationally recognized principles.

Make a Positive Change by rounding up your total at the register for Community Kitchen of Monroe County in September! Thanks to our anonymous donor, funds raised during the first seven days of September will be matched! 🥘💚

🥗 Community Kitchen of Monroe County provides free, nutritious meals and essential food support to local individuals and families facing hunger—ensuring no one in our community has to wonder where their next meal is coming from. Every dollar donated at the register goes directly toward filling plates at our dining room on South Rogers, their carry-out location in the Crestmont neighborhood, or on our Bloomington and Ellettsville food truck routes, supporting children's meal programs such as their Backpack Buddies program and Summer Food Service Program and bringing security to families, seniors, those with chronic illness, homebound, veterans, and the unhoused. In 2025, they served 277,194 meals and snacks to those experiencing food insecurity in our community.

💙 Donations of any size can also be made at any time. Thank you for making a positive change!

🎨 THIS FRIDAY, September 4th, join us in Gallery B at our Near West Store for Gallery Walk Bloomington from 5-8pm and view the Globular Delights series by Jacob Wittman–our East Store Manager! This will be your last chance to see his show during Gallery Walk in our gallery!

Jacob is a Bloomington resident who enjoys making art of most kinds. Pen and ink, watercolors, oil and acrylic painting, mixed media and printmaking are the primary visual art methods that he utilizes. But he is not beholden to them alone. Jacob has been active in the art community of Bloomington for many years. Whether with visual art or music. He has illustrated and designed comics, posters, show flyers, t-shirts, concert flyers, and more. Though this has slowed down, he has kept up with painting primarily. With some doodles and nonsense sprinkled in. And generally, has fun doing it. He enjoys artistic tomfoolery, and making art for arts sake. No big statement or point, other than making an interesting thing where there wasn’t previously. A blank wall is a sad wall. Art for art’s sake is enough. Making it feels good, and visual pleasantries are a wonderful sprinkle on the pile of drab mashed potatoes of the daily grind.

“Globular Delights is ideally just that. Globs of paint on glass that are potentially delightful in
some way. The majority of these works are acrylic on repurposed windows and glass cabinet
doors. There are some pen and ink drawings sprinkled in for good measure. As well as a mixed
media piece that usually hangs over my trash can. Cheers!” ~Jacob

Bloomingfoods Co-op Market patrons, your response has already been incredible - we are now halfway through August, but we are MORE than halfway to our goal of $10,000! With your help, can we keep this momentum going through the rest of the month?

Here's the fantastic thing about the Positive Change program - EVERYONE can participate and EVERYONE can have an impact! Whether you're rounding up $0.75 cents on a $2.25 cup of coffee, $1.01 on a $6.99 deli sandwich, or $0.20 on your $45.80 grocery bill, every cent goes towards supporting Exodus families! Plus, you can participate regardless of whether you're a Bloomingfoods Co-op owner-member.

Again, we are so excited and grateful for this momentum from the community. Please help us make August a banner month for Exodus!
