Our beautiful dressed out quail, ready for a roast or the slow cooker! Quail is a nutritious and lean dark meat. Quail meat is higher in iron and vitamin C with a more diverse mineral and amino acid profile than chicken. They also carry vitamin A, important for your vision, immunity, and cell repair, while chicken does not. Have you had quail meat before?

Monroe Covey Farm, a small urban coturnix quail farm located in southern Bloomington, is celebrating the official start of fall this week! We are having a $2 off per carton & $3 off per pound FALL SALE until Oct 17! 🍁
Local pickup and delivery is available. 🛻

12 ct. 🍳will be $5*
18 ct. 🍳will be $7*
*Take an additional $1 off if you bring your own carton from now until Oct. 17. All customers returning with an empty MCF carton will always receive $1 off for all future egg purchases.

All eggs are inspected and washed!

Frozen or fresh whole plucked birds will be available for pickup/delivery at a later date, but pre-orders are encouraged. We have TONS of chicks 🐣 hatching out this week. It’ll be 8-9 weeks until they’re processed, just in time for THANKSGIVING! 🦃 All meat is vacuum sealed for quality freshness.
🪶1 whole bird is on average just over 1/3 of a lb.
🪶Plucked price per lb is $10 for all preorders before October 17!

BROODY GIRLS
With our nesting areas, occasionally we get a hen that like to sit on the eggs! Unfortunately for quail in a pen set up, it’s much more difficult to have a hen sit for the entirety of the incubation period (2 weeks). A hen will often be disturbed off her “nest” despite trying to fend off other pen mates. Also, instinctually, Coturnix quail are often known as poor mothers from historically being raised in cages without nesting places. Some hens may sit until hatch, but not properly keep new babies warm. With the cooling Indiana fall weather approaching, we prefer to time our hatches and be at the ready to put chicks in the warm brooder.

Allergic to chicken eggs? I recommend looking into quail eggs! These little eggs are denser in protein, iron, riboflavin and vitamin B12 compared to chicken eggs. They’re also awesome hard boiled egg poppers. Picky eaters may also be swayed into this great protein source because of their beautiful, novelty speckles.

Our small urban farm will have day-old and week-old quail feeders in the next coming weeks! Quail and their eggs are a great way to add variation in your carnivorous reptile’s diet. Quail are a high protein, low fat option that are high in nutrients like calcium, iron, magnesium, manganese, zinc and B12!

Chicks come frozen in bags of 25.
