Changes and hopeful growth planned for New Carlisle’s Studebaker Brewing Co. They have listed their downtown location for sale. They hope to move their brewing operation to a biggest location while continuing to have a presence downtown. They are looking for support for a liquor license to make that happen.

Guggman Haus Brewing Co. featured in The Brewer Magazine!

Brewery owners have more data available to them than ever before. Point-of-sale systems can reveal what customers buy, when they buy it and how purchasing patterns change over time. Sales reports can help identify popular products, slow-moving inventory and trends across days, weeks or seasons.

But some of the information that can help a brewery make smarter decisions may never show up on a POS report.

Customer feedback — collected through a newsletter, social media, surveys or conversations in the taproom — can provide another data point. While sales numbers can show what customers are doing, direct feedback can sometimes help explain what they want, what they notice and where the brewery experience may be falling short.

“I love it. I love getting the feedback,” said Courtney Guggenberger of Guggman Haus Brewing Co. in a recent BREWER podcast and cover story on the Indianapolis brewery. “That’s a whole other data point.”

After more than 30 years, our last day at the 65th Street storefront will be this Saturday, September 26. BUT Great Fermentations is continuing online!

You’ll still be able to order at greatfermentations.com and have your homebrew supplies shipped to your door. A fellow family-owned homebrew business based in Minnesota is taking over the GF brand and online store. Starting October 1, orders will be fulfilled from there. Same name. Same website. Same customer points. A new chapter.

The homebrew industry has changed A LOT the last few years, and with our lease ending in October, committing to another five years in the space just didn’t make sense. That doesn’t make saying goodbye to the storefront any easier. We’ll miss the conversations across the counter and hearing about what you’re brewing.

For our local CO2 and nitrogen customers, our neighbors Proper Pour and Bier Brewery are teaming up to continue that service at the same location. Look for signs directing you where to go on your next visit.

Thank you for making us part of your brewing and winemaking journey. Your business, friendships, and enthusiasm have meant so much to us. If you’re nearby, stop in before we close Saturday. We’d love to see you!
