Illinois Farm Families From our families to yours: come see how we grow your food with care. Learn more at www.watchusgrow.org We want to answer those questions. Stay on topic.

Illinois Farm Families is a coalition of farmers committed to:

• Showing you how we grow your food
• Answering your questions about farms, farmers and farming
• Sharing with you what happens on modern Illinois farms

We know you care about how your food is raised. We do, too, because we feed our families the same food we grow for you and your family. We realize that you probably have a lot of

questions about farming – about why, when and how we use chemicals, antibiotics and hormones, about how we care for our animals. Our Commenting Standards Policy:

Passing the farm down to the next generation is top of mind for many farmers. Fueled by a passion to feed and fuel their communities, young people like Trevor Maiers are stepping up to carry on the family legacy. Some young farmers even take that commitment a step further by heading to the classroom to learn new, more sustainable, efficient and economical ways to farm for the future.

June is National Pollinator Month! Just like Illinois farmers, you can play a role in supporting pollinators. Bee hotels offer insects like honeybees a safe place to rest, similar to the over 106,000 acres of pollinator habitat Illinois farmers have planned across the state. With more than 100 crops in the U.S. relying on pollinators, small actions make a big buzz! 🐝

Last week, Illinois beef farmer Rebecca Walker showed us how one large beef shoulder cut can be turned into flat iron steaks, stew meat, and roasts. This week, she’s back with a family‑favorite Italian beef recipe, made using one of those roasts. It’s a low‑and‑slow meal that’s full of flavor and perfect for busy days.
