Holiday 2026 ordering has already begun...

It is crazy to think that our deadlines for holiday orders begin this month. We wanted to ask folks if there are any items you really want to see back for the holidays this year. There will be jumbo candy canes, panettone, and some more delicious goodies. Is there anything you've had over the years that you'd like to see come back? We are hard at work allocating our share from now through late July to be as prepared as possible. Let us know if there are favorites! 🎁

BLENDED IN HOUSE: Garam Masala, Tomato Powder, Garlic, Onion, Sea Salt, Paprika, Thyme

This seasoning is inspired by the vegetable relish of the same name. The origins of that dish are said to have begun in the Johannesburg area, but more specifically from the workers of the gold mines around there. Workers would combine tinned produce like tomatoes with a variety of ingredients to create the relish that would be used on many main dishes including soups, stews, and local specialties like fufu and samp. Typical ingredients included beans, onion, garlic, cabbage, butternut squash, curry paste and more. There are several variations just as there are variations of barbecue in the United States. This seasoning draws on the typical flavors found in the classic dish. It is great for seasoning meats, veggies, soups, popcorn, and so much more. A quick stir fry of meats and veggies seasoned with Chakalaka Seasoning and a bit of coconut milk or cream makes for a fantastic one pot dish great on its own or served over rice!

Amchur Powder (Dried Green Mango), Cumin, Kala Namak (Indian Black Salt), Sea Salt, Indian Coriander, Ginger, Tellicherry Peppercorn, Kashmiri Chile, Asafoetida (Hing)

Chaat Masala hails from India and is typically used in the flavoring of many dishes especially those with street food origins. Outside of chaat, a family of fried dough snacks, this masala is excellent on fruits and veggies with jicama, apples, cucumbers and potatoes especially noteworthy. The blend features amchoor (amchur), which are dried green mangoes. They provide a fruity tangy flavor. Kala Namak (Indian black salt) is also present with a high sulfur content providing a different savory salty note that is a bit eggy. The especially potent asafoetida (hing) provides and exceptionally potent savory note that is garlicky and oniony too. For those who can not have garlic and onion, fret not as asafoetida is not a garlic or onion related but has a flavor like those items nonetheless.

PROTIP: A healthy scoop into a bag of plain potato chips and a hearty shake makes for an absolutely delightful and quick snack.

Our friends from 715 jewelry down the street just dropped off this amazing little pet tag that was made for Denny! I can't wait for him to grow large enough for him to be able to wear it! If you're in need of a fun pet tag or anything in the world of jewelry, you should check them out!

Denny was asked for about eight times today. Unfortunately he sleeps about 90% of the time as he is going through several growth spurts. We tend to feed him and bring him out around 1pm or so but it's NOT a guarantee he will be calm enough to have him down for some quick pets everyday. Eventually he will be a full time indoor at home cat but we will have fun taking little walks with him on occasion in the meantime when time and his temperament allow. 🐈‍⬛

A couple changes to note...

Our whole Chile de Arbol is now in a destemmed presentation for ease of use and overall they are a higher quality that is even fresher and more potent.

Our ground Chile de Arbol is now a much finer powder and not as flaky as before. This will allow it to blend into spice mixes or recipes in general easily and quickly.
