Having healthy and happy animals here is the goal and enrichment for all takes on many different forms. We provide games, exercise, new food, and enhancements to their environment. Today, it was warm so a little sunflower bobbing in the pool served two purposes for our hens - helping to keep them cool and providing extra protein during molt. Giving animals what they need helps to keep them from fighting or becoming bored and developing bad habits. We always strive to give them things that would provide the most natural life while maintaining their health and safety. Sanctuary work is not work if you love it. Shout out to all the rescues and sanctuaries for their dedication and hard work.❤️

The adopted animals of Bee Haven Farms are one big family. Hinckley (gray gelding), from RISING STARR HORSE RESCUE, has taught Junebug “Joonie”, from Associated Humane Soc.-Newark, how to graze like a horse. She has taken to it like a boss. While Shadow, our other gelding, from our wonderful trainer, grazes with her too. For those of you wondering where Odessa was, also from RISING STARR HORSE RESCUE, she was getting scritches from her very special person - iykyk 🤭. We introduce all the adopted babies slowly but it doesn’t take long before they all buddy up and make new friends. We are very lucky to be able to provide a forever home for all these amazing animals. We endeavor to give them the very best long and pampered life. Don’t you just@love the crunching noises from all three.

Gilda and her babies have settled into the herd. The babies are growing and playing and will never know separation from each other. It truly is a great, big family!

It’s so hot that everybody here deserves a beach day. The pool has opened and later they’ll get served fresh ice cold fruit. No one here goes without some sort of cooling down in this heat. I may join them later in the pool. I hope there’s room.

Rescuing this little family is amazing. They will spend their lives together never knowing separation. Gilda is a great mom and Dewey and Clara get to enjoy being kids.

Our beautiful, adopted Junebug (Joonie) is turning into a regular farm girl. She stays alert and makes sure there are no predators around. She is good with the chickens and the horses but fears the goats and likes to chase the cats. So happy to have her here with all our other rescues. Thank you for keeping her safe until we adopted her.

Welcome home to our newest rescues! Gilda and her babies, Dewey and Clara. They have been settling in and are ready to get out of quarantine and hang out with Lily and Arthur. Lily stays close by hearing the babies and listening to Gilda. They have a little coffee clutch going all day. I think Arthur is just waiting till the kids get a little older so they can parkour together around the pasture. What a great big family. Thank you to everyone that helped make this happen and especially the dedicated people and ❤️

Such is the life of the fun police! Odessa must keep the boys in line. Shadow and Hinckley have it down to a science - wait for the mare stare, the chase, and then, when her back is turned, play can resume! 😂❤️

Odessa never even noticed they were waiting patiently for her to share. Our farm animals peacefully coexist - dogs, cats, goats, horses, and chickens - everyone gets along.❤️

It’s not for the money…it’s for the enjoyment of having a happy, thriving flock. Rescue hens may come in bruised and battered but they quickly learn what a satisfying, long life can look like. It’s so rewarding watching them flourish and they in turn produce big, beautiful eggs that when purchased help them and the other rescues enjoy a spoiled life here.
