🤠🐐 BUCK WILD SHOW RECAP! 🐐🤠

What an AMAZING weekend at the Buck Wild Show in Cookeville, TN. We came home tired, happy, STINKY, and incredibly proud of our bucks . ❤️

There’s just something about getting these goats into the ring, seeing how they stack up, learning from the judges, and spending the day surrounded by goat friends that makes all the work at home worth it.

🏆 HIGHLIGHT PLACINGS 🏆

- Roan Star JP Top Shelf - his debut with Little Miss Muffet as the “Spider”
- LT-Farm PC Sh***un Blues - 1st place in all 3 rings
-LT-Farm SW Storm Serge - 1st place ring 1
- CH Jackson Royal C Cookiemonster - BEST OF BREED in ring 1
- Camaraderie Farm Moose Munch
1st place in 2 rings, RESERVE CHAMPION ring 1 and GRAND CHAMPION in ring 3.

But what made this show especially meaningful to us were the herd names attached to these bucks.

These boys represent genetics from herds that I admire tremendously and breeders whose programs, animals, knowledge, and years of hard work we have an incredible amount of respect for. When we bring a buck from another breeder into our herd, we never forget that their herd name comes right along with him.

So when we walk into the ring, we aren’t just representing Three Oaks Ranch. We are representing the breeders who trusted us with a piece of their program, too.

We try our absolute best to represent those herds as well as we possibly can and seeing these boys recognized in the ring makes me incredibly proud by not only of what we are building, but of the genetics and breeders who helped us build it. ❤️

We are SO proud of these animals and excited about the direction our little herd is heading. Every show gives us another opportunity to learn, improve, and appreciate the animals we get to bring home at the end of the day.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who worked so hard to put on the Buck Wild Show, the judges who took the time to evaluate our animals, and all the friends who made the weekend such a good one.

Thank you Dana Long Terry for the AMAZING pictures as always.

Three Oaks Ranch had a heck of a weekend! 🐐🏆🤠

Until the next one! ❤️

🗣️ “I’m working so hard, but I’m still not winning. What am I doing wrong?”

Maybe nothing.

That might be one of the hardest lessons in this industry: effort and outcome do not always arrive at the same time.

You can feed right. Buy the “right” one. Perfect your daily routine. Continue to take advice. Spend extra hours in the barn. You can do everything you know how to do, and still watch somebody else get their hand shaken.

Because here’s the humbling part: Everyone works hard.

You are not the only one getting up early. You are not the only one staying late. You are not the only one making sacrifices, spending money, missing important events, practicing showmanship, or wanting it so badly it hurts.

At a certain level, hard work isn’t what separates you. It’s what gets you there. Then some days, it really does come down to a look.

Who got the best looks at the right time. Whose animal fit that judge’s priorities the closest. Who got their animal closest to 12 o’clock. Who got the right class break.

A different judge, a different day, a slightly different look, and the outcome might change entirely. Call it timing. Call it circumstance. Call it luck.

Whatever you call it, you can’t control all of it. But what you can control is whether you’ve worked hard enough to be standing there when it finally falls your way.

See, hard work simply puts you where good luck can find you.

It doesn’t guarantee the outcome. It keeps putting you in position for the right judge, the right look, the right break, and the right day to eventually meet all the work you’ve already done.

So absolutely, evaluate yourself when you lose. Stay coachable. Find the holes. Get better. Just don’t let every loss convince you there must be something fundamentally wrong with what you’re doing.

Sometimes you need to get better. Sometimes someone else was simply better. And sometimes, when everyone in the ring has done the work, it’s just about whose day it is.

Hard work doesn’t make you entitled to the outcome, it prepares you for when the opportunity finally arrives.

“The fastest way to advance your herd is to build it around your bucks.”

We listened. 😂

And maybe took that advice a little seriously, because we brought in quite a few new bucks this season. But yesterday, two boys who came from both of my mentors absolutely kicked butt in the ring at the AGS National Show and I couldn’t be more excited about what they bring to our program. ❤️

🏆 BELLA ROSSA ESTATE PINOT GRIS

There is something incredibly rewarding about watching a breeding program start to take shape and even more special knowing these boys represent genetics from two people who have poured so much knowledge, advice, and encouragement into me along the way. Thank you Dana Long Terry at LT-Farm Nigerian-Dwarfs and Samara Groves at Bella Rossa Estate.💗

Here’s to building around the bucks. I think I understood the assignment. 😉🐐

What a great day. Details to follow.💗
