Our story starts with our great grandfather, Rocco Borzillo, who came to America from Benevento, Italy in 1892 and made his way to Norristown in 1903. What began as a small grocery store grew into Borzillo’s Bakery, opening its doors in 1910, filling the block with the smell of fresh Italian bread and pastry. By 1924 (pictured here), that bakery had a whole fleet of trucks delivering loaves across the community. Fifty-five years after opening, in 1965, we acquired the cookie division of Perfect Foods in Lansdale, PA... and a little company called Sweetzels was born, known for a Spiced and Molasses Cookie you could only find in Philadelphia each fall. More than a century later, that cookie, our Spiced Wafer, is still ours to make and for you to love.🍂 🇮🇹
