Maple syrup has long been the lifeblood of Virginia’s Highland County. This year, a brutal ice storm and recent warmth brought one of the worst syrup seasons in recent memory.

2026 Maple season at Puffenbarger's Sugar Orchard....
It was a very short season but we loved every minute even though we sold out of our maple syrup and had to close!🍁
Thanks to our visitors and customers who supported us this year!! We appreciate you all!!
And most of all to our family and friends who helped us get through! ❤️
2027 will be better than ever!

PLEASE READ and SHARE:
So sorry to announce this,
Puffenbargers Sugar Orchard will be CLOSED this weekend for the Highland County Maple Festival!
We are just devastated that this maple syrup season was short because of weather; snow, ice, freezing temps to rising warm temps. Our production was down about 50% and we SOLD OUT of all our maple syrup and goodies this past weekend! This has been our worse maple season ever!
There's nothing we can do but hope and pray Mother Nature and the weather will be better in 2027.
THANKS to everyone who stopped by, purchased our Pure Highland County Maple Syrup, and supported us! We appreciate you all! ❤️🍁

It's almost time folks!
We've been very busy getting ready for the 66th Highland County Maple Festival! 🍁
Our family carries on it's sugar-making heritage by bottling Pure Highland County Maple Syrup from the same sugarbush our grandfather tapped for so many years. Some of our trees are over 200 years old!
We extend an invitation to visit the 2nd and 3rd weekends in March.
So, be sure to stop by! 🙂
Weather permitting, you can see the processing of "sugar water" or "sap" by using our vacuum system, reverse osmosis machine, and an oil-fired evaporator.
We will have our:
* Pure Highland County Maple Syrup *Maple Sugar Candy using our maple syrup
*Homemade Maple Fudge made with our maple syrup
*Homemade Maple Glazed Cinnamon Buns using our maple syrup!
Yummy 😋
Grab a hot dog, BBQ, coffee, or water while Doug gives you a tour of our sugar camp explaining how we make our maple syrup!
We look forward to seeing everyone!!
