💰 Let’s Talk About Saving Money (I Get It.)
It’s tough out there right now. Costs are up, budgets are tight, and for a lot of folks, keeping food on the table and bills paid comes before fixing a mower or servicing equipment.
It's the same way for me and my family.
I know I’m not the cheapest option out there. And that’s because you’re getting decades of mechanical experience and years of specialized small engine knowledge. That said, I still want to help my customers and followers save money where they can. Here are a few ways to do just that:
📄 Always Ask for Estimates. They give you a good idea of what to expect while building trust and transparency. And mine are always free! When comparing prices, make sure you understand what’s included—not all quotes are apples-to-apples. I often include more in my maintenance services than others.
🚜 Drop Off When You Can. Want to save a little money? If you’re able to drop off your equipment at the shop in Blue Ridge Summit, you can avoid pickup/delivery fees. We know that’s not always possible—but if it is, it helps your bottom line.
🧰 Let’s Talk Parts. Some brands (looking at you, John Deere 👀) come with major markup on parts (like up to 300% sometimes). Aftermarket parts can sometimes save money but going that route can have trade-offs. If you know your equipment’s make, model, and serial number, you may be able to source parts yourself and save a bit.
🧠 Knowledge Is Power. The more you can tell me about what’s going on, the better. No judgment here! Whether it’s been sitting outside, hasn’t had an oil change in years, or you tried to fix it yourself, more info = faster diagnosis = less labor cost!
⏱️ Spend a Little to Save a Lot. Regular maintenance goes a long way. Cleaning your equipment, sharpening blades, using the right fuel, etc. can extend the life of your equipment and can prevent bigger repairs later.
🔍 Do Your Research. We see tons of posts this time of year asking for engine repair recommendations. Just remember: the cheapest option doesn’t always save you money if the job isn’t done right. Check reviews, ask around, and make sure you know who you’re dealing with. Scammers gonna scam (and I’ve had to fix what they broke).
🗣️ Tell Me the Budget. If it's a priority for you, please be upfront about your budget. I never want to do more than what you need or want. I can always make recommendations for what to prioritize and we can go from there.
💳 Offer to make payments. Some people will let you make payments. I am one of those people. We can arrange a payment plan, and I have a card reader for credit cards if needed.
📞 Questions Are Free. Sometimes the issue is something simple. Especially if you’re mechanically inclined, I may be able to point you in the right direction over the phone before it ever turns into a service call.
🤝 Ask About Guarantees. Nobody’s perfect. Things happen; parts fail. If something isn’t right, I stand behind my work and will not charge to come back out to fix something that I’m responsible for.
