Sailing into summer with our first ever music-themed wine tasting. Nothing says summer like Yacht Rock, and we’re kicking it off in epic fashion.

I’ve selected four wines to feature that are perfect summer wines, and will be expertly paired with 1-2 songs from the impossible not to love yacht rock genre. We’ll have the tunes blasting, wines pouring, and it’s highly encouraged to choose your wardrobe with the theme in mind.

An all-new Pet Nat sparkling wine from Portugal’s Vinho Verde region will kick us off. The clean and refreshing wine is delicately bubbly, with vibrant notes of meyer lemon and ocean breeze. Named ‘Pseudonimo’, we find it easy to love and call it simply yummy.

A white blend of Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc from the Willamette Valley was such a hit last summer, it’s back by popular demand. Blending these two grapes together may surprise some, but there was no fooling around here, this wine emulates a wine made in the Loire Valley, France and it just works so well.

The newest Provencal rosé to our shelves is being debuted, a refined and elegant beauty. The grapes are harvested at night which helps to lock in aromas and preserve the freshness of the wine. With one sip you’ll feel swept away to the pristine waters and cool breeze of the Côte d’Azur.

Our final wine takes us the Mediterranean island of Sardegna, home to the Cannonau variety. Known more commonly as Garnacha (Spain) and Grenache (France). Hailing straight from one of the longevity ‘Blue Zones,’ moderate consumption of this delightful wine could have you sailing into several more decades of yacht rock-filled summers.

Break out your captains hat and make your plans to join us for this kickoff to summer tasting:

* Casal de Ventozela ‘Pseudonimo’ Pet Nat NV - Vinho Verde, Portutal
* Bow & Arrows Wines ‘Fool’s Gold’ White Blend 2022 - Willamette Valley, Oregon
* Mirabeau ‘One Day” Cotes de Provence Rosé 2025 - Provence, France
* Pala ‘Centosere’ Cannonau di Sardegna DOC 2023 - Sardegna, Italy

It’s getting warm out there, and matching the vibe of your wines with the summer days upon us is essential.

We’re kicking off this week’s tasting with a favorite summer cocktail that puts a lighter spin on a vodka tonic or G&T, the Porto Tonico. Dry White Port mixed with good quality tonic water and a citrus garnish, voila. This refreshing, lower octane cocktail is made for this season and is a must feature for us each June.

1L bottles of Grüner Veltliner are a summer staple, and our newest one from Scenic Valley Farms in Willamette Valley, Oregon has answered the call this year. With a perfect balance of freshness and vibrancy, you’ll be glad this larger format bottle comes with an extra glass or two.

Delicate, dry rosé is another summer essential, and we’re pouring one that is just arriving this week for its annual debut, a favorite of ours from Germany. Coming from vineyards on limestone soils, this rosé displays pristine freshness and begs to be at your next dock day.

Finally, we’re pouring a red wine this week that gained a big following after being a May wine club selection. Introducing club members and tasters to new varietals is part of our focus on exploration, and the reception to this Grignolino from Italy’s Piedmont region was a strong case of validation for why we do so. This stunning red is both light and lively, beaming with flavors of tart cherry, orange zest, rose petal, and a hint of alpine herb.

Make your plans to join us for this flight as we “lighten up” and march toward summer:

- Dry White Port “Porto Tonico” - Duoro Valley, Portutal
- Scenic Valley Farms Grüner Veltliner 2024 1L - Willamette Valley, Oregon
- Seehof Rosé of Pinot Noir 2025 - Rheinhessen, Germany
- Santa Caterina “Arlandino” Grignolino 2024 - Piedmont, Italy

June Wine Tasting Announcement!

We’re pouring on the Summer vibes this month as the season officially arrives. Make your plans to join us for these upcoming features!

June 4th & 6th
Join us this week as we pour the 4 wines featured in our June “Latitudes” Wine Club, for both members and “not-yet-members.” A ready-to-drink Hugo Spritz, Spanish Txakoli, Rosé of Pinot Noir, and California red blend will be poured.

June 11th & 13th
As the temperatures rise the season for lighter styles of wine is upon us. We’ll taste sparkling, white, rose and red wines that lighten things up a bit in terms of weight and alcohol, while still delivering delicious, flavorful pours.

June 18th & 20th
Summer is officially here, and nothing pairs with that better than blasting yacht rock morning til night. This fun, thematic tasting will pair four summer-perfect wines with a classic yacht rock tune, that will of course be aired upon tasting.

June 25th & 27
We’re closing out the month in the Southern Hemisphere with a tasting of South African wines. White and red wines will be featured, each wine making its 34th° debut as we’ve been refreshing our offerings from this fabulous wine region.

Tasting Schedule:
4pm - 7pm on tasting days (Seatings at 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm)
$25-$30/per person
$20 for wine club members

What a month it has been with celebrations galore! We’re concluding with a big one outside of the shop, so big that it’s warranting our first ever early closing on a Saturday 🎉🥂. We couldn’t leave you out of the celebrations, and invite you to join us for a blind tasting of sparkling wines. We’ll hold the Thursday tasting as regularly scheduled, and Saturday we will have two early sessions at 3pm and 4pm before shutting things down at 5pm.

We’ll taste 4 sparkling wines, each will be a different type, and we’ll see if you can discern between Italian Prosecco, Spanish Cava, French Crémant and French Champagne.

Make your plans to join us for this celebratory flight!

We’ve been commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Judgment of Paris Wine Tasting over the last week, and today marks the official date of the event. I can’t imagine a better way to celebrate the anniversary than with a bottle of each of the wines that received top ranking.

This iconic duo of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon, and Chateau Montelena Napa Valley Chardonnay are available in limited quantities at 34th°.

While we wish we were cracking bottles of the 1973 vintages that were awarded in the 1976 tasting, vintage 2022 will have to do to, and the quality of these wines has withstood the test of time.

To these wines and all that were part of this legendary event, we applaud and thank you!

The season for lake days, long weekends, al fresco dining, and more has arrived! Memorial Day Weekend always brings a bustling energy to Blue Ridge, and we are ready for it.

Our tasting this week will take place on Friday and Saturday, as we have a private event taking place in the shop this evening. This tasting screams summer vibes, with wines you will want to have on hand all season long.

Spanish Txakoli will kick us off, a tasty wine with mouthwatering zip and the slightest touch of fizz, sure to be one of your “it” wines of summer. Rosé of Pinot Noir is truly adult Lemonade in a bottle, and you’re going to want sip this one on the hot days that lie ahead. Nothing goes better with al fresco dining than chillable red wine, and we’ve got one from Tuscany in a 1L bottle, because more is definitely better with this wine. When the grill comes out it’s time for a juicy French Malbec, and we have an all-new selection that delivers the perfect balance of depth and freshness.

Make your plans to join us for the Memorial Day Weekend flight!

* Sand Boy Txakoli 2024 - Getariako Txakolina, Spain
* Day Wines ‘Lemonade’ Rosé of Pinot Noir 2025 - Willamette Valley, Oregon
* Viticoltori Senesi Aretini ‘Gatto Grosso’ Vino Rosso 1L 2023 - Tuscany, Italy
* Mas des Étoiles Cahors ‘Petite Étoile’ 2025 - Southwest, France
