We have been trying our hardest to reduce all the dyes in our home. If you look closely, there are harmful dyes in SO many of our foods and hygiene products that is totally unnecessary. Take a look at most candies (all color dyes especially red40), juices (all colors), marshmallows (blue dye), pickles (yellow dye), chips, shampoos, body washes, etc! I made the decision that if I can find or make my own dye-free replacements for one thing at a time, eventually I may have a dye free household. But even if I never have a totally dye free household, at least I am one step closer each time! Healthier decisions, don’t have to be emotionally, physically, or financially overwhelming - take it one step at a time!
For example, zoom in on the ingredients of this hand sanitizer.. blue and yellow dye.. in a clear product?! This is what led me to make my own. I reused the spray bottle and filled it with two parts alcohol, one part aloe, one part essential oil. I actually had an aloe plant that got knocked off of a cabinet and got pretty busted up. I harvested the aloe out of the inside from watching a YouTube video! But you can also buy it at the store. The alcohol was $1.25 at the dollar tree. It’s amazing what we can learn to do to reduce waste, make healthier choices, and save money!
