National Sheep Month: I first started with Columbia sheep 13 years ago, but have tried several breeds over the years. I very briefly tried Icelandic: I liked the idea of a tri-purpose breed. I did a few years with Navajo Churros: I loved the variety of colors I got with them! I did a couple years with Cotswold: the long curly locks are so beautiful! A couple years with CVM: their colorings and soft wool was so fun to spin! I got a bottle Jacob lamb from a friend my second spring and she was my favorite. She went up the mountain with us while she was little and followed us everywhere. I've had Jacob's for the last 12 years and their wool, personalities and meat has stayed my favorite! The last few years I have solely raised Jacob's.

February it's national Sheep/Lamb month. While there are many reasons I love my sheep, I originally started raising sheep 13 years ago to provide meat for my family.... I started with some bottle lambs.... Columbia at the time. I've enjoyed raising a few different breeds over the years. Today's photos are just some of the yummy lamb dishes we've enjoyed this last week.

This week meet Miss Journee. Journee joined us a couple years back from Meridian Jacobs in California. She is another one of my more friendly ewes.... once she knows you she loves scratches too. She is the mom of Kirby who we met a few weeks back. Journee is due the very end of March.
