The moment the camera goes underwater, these fish steal the show.

Blue bodies, bright yellow blazes and a close look inside our Sulfur Head Lithobates tank. Josh says this clip captures just how extraordinarily pretty they are.

Filmed September 2026 at our Live Fish Direct farm in Bluffdale, Utah. Natural tank and farm sound only.

Our line-bred Sulfurhead belongs to Otopharynx lithobates, a Lake Malawi cichlid with a fascinating rocky-shore history. The article explains its name, wild relatives and the years of patient selection that go into consistent aquarium strains.

Which do you notice first: the blue body or the yellow blaze?

This one has some history.

Years ago, we originally bred this beautiful albino strain of Ahli and named it the Snow White Ahli. Today you may also see similar fish referred to as White Knight Albino Ahlis, but for us, this will always be the Snow White.

Brilliant white coloration, red albino eyes, and icy blue highlights make these fish absolutely incredible as they mature. Put one in a tank full of colorful Peacocks and Haps and it immediately stands out.

It’s pretty cool seeing a fish we originally worked with still making its way through the African cichlid hobby all these years later.

Would you put a Snow White Ahli in your tank?

Ethelwynnae Peacock | LFD FishVision™

A greenish body, long blue to blue-violet fins and striking egg spots—this is Josh's favorite peacock. He loves the natural beauty of this Lake Malawi species and the clever, individual personalities he notices at the farm.

Scientifically Aulonocara ethelwynnae, this peacock belongs to the cichlid family Cichlidae and is named for ichthyologist Ethelwynn Trewavas.

Filmed September 2026 at Live Fish Direct in Bluffdale, Utah. We start above the farm tanks, then take the camera underwater. Natural tank and farm sound only.
