As we prepare to step into the New Year, we look back at 2024 with pride and enthusiasm- not just at what we have accomplished in Bluffton, but the traction regenerative agriculture has gained as a whole. It's been a powerful year for our team, who continues to put in the extra effort to share the bounty of our farm with so many far and wide. And, it's not lost on us that this extra effort we are able to put in is a gift offered to us in support from our loyal customers and partners.

We want to share a few of our accomplishments from this year with you:

• We began construction of a freezer and processing room in April, and we are grateful to now have 2,800 sq. ft. of room to produce and store the products you love.

• We were awarded the contract to construct a large solar voltaic array that will soon power our on-farm, USDA inspected processing plants.

• We began some long overdue renovations of our poultry plant.

• We've developed several new sausage flavors to launch after the first of the year.

• We've educated over 300 workshop participants to help grow others knowledge in producing, processing, and shipping good food to those who demand it.

• Will Harris was named Solar Rancher of the Year.

• White Oak Pastures production team won three prestigious awards from the Compassion in World Farming organization: Good Sow Award, Good Rabbit Award, and the Sustainable Farm Award.

• Will's book A Bold Return to Giving a Damn has sold over 25,000 copies to readers far and wide who are hungry to learn about a different kind of agriculture.

The Harris family prayer has always been "We pray for plenty of good, hard work to do and the strength to do it," and we look forward to continuing our commitment to you in this new year and every single one after it.

Sincerely,
The Cowboys & Butchers of White Oak Pastures

One of the things we most respect about President Jimmy Carter is his undying love for his hometown community of Plains, Georgia.

When President Carter got out of the Navy, he came back to Plains.

When he got through being Georgia's Governor, he came back to Plains.

When he got done being the 39th President of the United States of America, he came back to Plains.

No matter where he was in the world, he was always looking forward to getting back to Plains.

A man that could live anywhere, he always longed for home.

That's something we share with President Carter - we love our community of Bluffton, Georgia in that exact same way.

May he rest in peace.

Happy birthday to our fearless leader, Will Harris! His wisdom, tenacity, and strength have helped rebuild our town, our soils, and our food system. We celebrate his work everyday- but today is all about him!

We are grateful that a little boy with a lot of gumption was born in Bluffton 70 years ago today. ❤️

Composting is an important and valuable part of bringing dead dirt back to life! Fat is rendered into tallow products, and hides are tanned into leather goods or dehydrated for pet chews. Unsold bones, organs and inedible material goes into our composting program.

This little guy tangled its way into a fence. And lucky for it, one of our field managers rescued it and tucked him safely in a tree to recover.

Being a good steward of the land and herds isn't just focused on the livestock we raise, but also the wildlife who call our pastures and forests home.

During the pandemic panic, our online store was flooded with orders. While we were excited to see new shoppers purchase locally, we lost our ability to recognize our loyal, long-standing customers. To remedy this, we created a loyalty program to identify those certain customers as soon as their orders are placed. We are blessed to serve such a wonderful, dedicated group of people.

Swipe to learn more about our loyalty program!

With Hurricane Helene barreling our way, we wanted to let you all know that we are taking extra precautions and watching this weather closely. Please bear with us, as we fully expect to lose power for some amount of time once Helene makes landfall early Thursday evening. We expect order fulfillment and processing to be delayed, in addition to limited customer service.

We ask that you please grant us extra patience during this time of uncertainty. Working with Nature means celebrating the ups and respecting the downs. If you are praying people, send one up for our farm and all of the others who will feel the effects of this major hurricane.

Recently, our farm, White Oak Pastures, has been impersonated in a scamming attempt. Someone is using our name and logo to run ads directing them to websites claiming to be selling meat from our farm. We've heard from dozens of folks reporting this issue to us, and we wanted to let you all know how we are handling this situation.

Please know that ads from social media accounts outside of our verified pages are NOT our ads. You will always see a little blue check next to our name on social media. Our website whiteoakpastures.com is very secure. Please shop with us directly on our website or via our app found in the Google Play or Apple App Store. Thank you for your reports of this issue and for supporting our family farm with your online purchases!

I think there are a lot of really powerful words of wisdom in my Dad's book, A Bold Return to Giving a Damn, but this passage will forever be my favorite. We will remain focused on what we CAN do, and this set of principles is something we will always live by.

"I never really got the 10 commandments, because they were so focused on what I should not do. I don't believe that a person's goodness is wholly based on what they don't do. So while I don't contest these Biblical instructions, I made myself a set of commandments on what I will do..."

Turn the sound on for this post, you won't want to miss it.
