New baby calf!

And we thought trying to get a mom with twins back to the barn was hard. Turns out it can be more difficult-- with triplets! A first for our herd. 2 ram lambs and a ewe lamb to our number 14 ewe!

In today's episode of new lambs in the field we have "Are You My Mother?" featuring ewe number 28 affectionately named Reta after Kaelyn's granny and her brand new twins.

Some friends visited us and I got to teach them about how ewes bond with their new lambs. As soon as lambs are born, their mom begins cleaning them by licking them. In doing this, she is warming them and also learning their scent. This is how she can tell the difference between her lambs and other lambs when they all get jumbled up.
These twins were born this afternoon. They were still wet from cleaning but were born out in the field and got to take the long walk back to the barn with mom.

A cold weekend called for some lambing. We had a single yesterday and twins today.

Ram lambs up for discussion. All born between February and March.. most weigh over 80 lbs but there is at least one that is already topping 100. Pretty good looking rams and would be a great fit for commercial stock breeding. Good conformation for white dorper and great muscle tone. All grass fed, have been given shots (CDT), wormed, and docked.

Have about 15 ram lambs up for discussion. These rams are from a fully registered full blood White Dorper ram (first picture) and commercial ewes (white dorper but no papers or anything). Ram lambs are anywhere from 2 to 3 months old. None have been castrated but all have been docked. They have had a round of CDT and been wormed. Will be given second round and wormed again soon. These lambs eat grass and drink momma's milk. No grain or anything. The ram sire was a first time ram with first time ewes and produced about 33% twins with all but one ewe being serviced out of 27 ewes. Let me know if you're interested. They won't be ready for another month or so but want to start getting them out there.
