Update: so we did find out releasing anywhere but our own property is illegal. I wouldn't release him on someone else's private property anyway. We are on a mountain. I did not know( which is why I made a s**t ton of calls for advice this morning) that releasing it back to the wild was illegal if it wasn't on the property it was caught on. I just wanted it to have the best chance to survive. Here isn't it. We have dogs, chickens, rabbits and other livestock. We will be taking it to the back of our 80 acres and releasing it as far from our livestock as possible while still on our property. Do I think its dumb af that you cant move it to a better natural spot for its survival, yes. Will I follow the law, also yes.
Poor Morticia had something take all 15 eggs in her nest in our shop area. So we set up a live trap. I was thinking probably gonna be a badger. We have seen them after the fire. This Lil thing was not what I was expecting Mike to show me this morning. Poor thing. Look at the Pic of its non existent front hands. I dont know how its survived to this point. Other than we do let our chickens free range over 80 acres and those girls lay wherever they want. And it did eat all of the eggs Morticia had layed. It did get a dozen eggs in the trap last night. Now there is a water bottle attached to the trap. But wtf do i do from here😂🤦♀️ I want it to have the best chance at survival because its obviously no quitter!
