Saturday June 13: blackberry u-pick continues strong, and this morning I hoed the cane sorghum for awhile before deciding the ground was too hard and put up the 2" sprinkler. Our pond is full of fish and aquatic plants so is excellent for irrigation as it is soft and contains micronutrients for our crops!

Thursday June 11: we have ripe fruit on all three blackberry varieties that we grow and can barely keep up! Come on out for u-pick Mon-Sat 8-noon and other times by appointment. 226 Lever Road, Blythewood. 803-608-3934

Purple is apparently our spirit color because yesterday we also harvested some lavender off a plant that has thrived on neglect (my favorite kind of plant!). We are planning to grow a lot more lavender and lavandin (a stronger-smelling lavender hybrid used for aromatherapy and not cooking) and have some specialized equipment on the way to help us process it that we are excited to show you soon!

Tuesday June 9: the big ones are coming in! Just 5 berries fills up my palm, these are delicious and we will have loads coming ripe this week! We still have plenty of ponca coming ripe - its a perfect snacking or jam berry - but that variety will be finishing within a week but we have plenty of the next kinds coming ripe daily! Monday June 8: we had an AWESOME Richland County Ag and Art weekend, thank you to everyone who came to the u-pick and a big thank yoi to FabelFarms for hosting us to sell pre-picked fruit as well as our preserves and other far products. The u-pick remains open m-sat 8-noon for picking, there will be lots coming ripe especially near the end of this week and we hope to see you out!

Thursday, June 4: u-pick blackberries continues strong! Open from 8-noon, 226 Lever Road. SPECIAL EXTENDED HOURS: Saturday and Sunday June 6 and 7 for Richland Countg Ag and Art, we'll open at 8am and stay open till 4pm or all fruit is picked. There will be more fruit Sunday morning even if we are picked clean on Saturday!

In other news our sorghum crop is germinating nicely, as you can see in the attached photo. We will need to hoe and thin it in next week, but right now we're busy making goodies for this weekend. If you read this far, good job - we're making a limited edition red fruit jam just for this weekend, come get a jar!

Wednesday June 3: what a wonderful day we had yesterday! A homeschool group had contacted us a few days ago to arrange a picking day, and yesterday they came through and picked 50lbs! Kids were running around eating berries and having a grand time. We love it when families come out!

We remain open daily from 8-noon for u-pick, and will be at the Blythewood Farmers Market today from 4-7 with fresh berries, our signature seedless jam, and fruit leather.

This weekend is Richland County Ag and Art weekend, so we will be open both Saturday and Sunday, from 8am until the field is picked bare!
