Five years ago, a myriad of health conditions turned my life to crumbling chaos. My career as a critical care nurse came to a tragic end. My savings fell short of "holding me over" for the 5 years it took to fight for disability benefits and I had to get creative just to keep the lights on & my animals fed. Bartering became a means of survival and let me tell ya... getting what you need WITHOUT the almighty dollar is a very freeing feeling!!
My hope for this group is to help other homesteaders connect in a way where everyone benefits in some way no matter the depth of your pockets. For example: you have an abundance of fresh garlic, but you need fresh eggs- let's swap! That is EGGSactly the seed that was planted in my head last year and has been growing wild ever since.
So if you want to diversify your flock but don't want "box store chicks," here's your chance to find another like minded person willing to swap a carton of hatching eggs w you.
Or maybe you have a skill such as baking where you'd be happy to swap out a homemade cake for a gallon of fresh milk so you can churn your own butter.
Maybe you grow a big garden but not enough room in your freezer for your bounty.... why not swap your extra green beans to a homecanner who cans yours for you? Better yet- swap for canning lessons so you can learn to feed your family w fewer trips to the store!
I have even swapped a couple dozen eggs in exchange for an eyebrow waxing! The possibilities are truly endless, but this page will be limited to homesteading type posts such as small scale agricultural goods & services, gardening, cooking, canning, baking, etc to help us plain ol' poor folks make ends meet without breaking the bank.
If this sounds like your kinda thing, give us a follow & let's see whatcha got to swap! 😁
Pics of my Cantry because I CAN!! 😁 I'm also a home baker, gardener, huntress, & chicken tender just to name a few
