Steve Kistler, founder and winemaker of Kistler Vineyards, has established a new pinot noir brand, “Occidental.” Occidental is dedicated to the production of world-class pinot noir from the Freestone-Occidental area.

The Sonoma Coast pinot we all know and love. makes some of the most distinctive cool-climate California wines out there. Steve Kistler's found a love for coastal wines while working at Ridge. He started Occidental to focus on pinot noir from unique sites on the coastal headlands. In 1992, after tasting a Summa Vineyard pinot noir, from one of the first pinot noir vineyards planted on Taylor Lane, Steve knew his destiny. Occidental has played a leading role in planting new pinot noir vineyards in the Freestone-Occidental area, pushing the boundary westward all the way to the coast. 🌊👏🏻 This !
