Winding Branch Ranch is hoping to find homes for as many rescued farm animals as possible before the end of the month. 🐐

As part of Clear the Shelters, the local farm animal rescue is waiving adoption fees for approved adopters through August 31.

Pigs, goats, chickens, and other animals are currently available, and the ranch works with each adopter to make sure the home is a good fit for the animal's individual needs.

Even if adopting isn't an option, simply sharing their available animals could help connect one of them with the right family.

This summer we’ve been a little MIA, but we’re still here! Checking in to share a few simple ways to keep your flock comfortable:

💧 Fresh, cool water! Keep multiple waterers filled and in the shade.

🌳 LOTS of shade! Trees, shade cloth, tarps, or covered runs give them a place to escape the sun.

🧊 Frozen treats! Add a little ice to their water and offer frozen watermelon, cucumbers, berries, or corn.

🌬️ Good airflow! Keep the coop well ventilated, especially during the hottest part of the day.

🦶💦 Shallow water pans! Chickens release heat through their feet. Place shallow pans of cool water in the shade so they can stand in them and cool down through their feet.

🚨 Watch for signs of heat stress! Panting, wings held away from the body, lethargy, or weakness are signs they may be struggling.

I’ve officially succumbed to a house plant obsession over here! 🪴🌿 Who else has a house plant obsession? What’s your favorite plant baby?

Between the garden, chickens, sourdough baking, and now my growing collection of indoor plants… I guess I just can’t stop creating little pockets of life around our home. 😂

Right now I’m loving this lipstick plant from The Green Gate in Seguin! It’s adding the prettiest touch of green and maroon to our home. 💚 (And yes, I’ll still be over here making sourdough cookies too 😉🍪)

The storm may have broken my little Brown Turkey fig tree, but it wasn’t a total loss. 🌿

I gathered the some of the leaves and turned them into homemade fig leaf tea instead. Sometimes you’ve just got to make the best of what you’ve been given. 💚

Drop your prayer requests and praises!

We have a BIG praise! 🙌

During the rain, water was coming right up to our door. I prayed and asked friends to pray that our home would stay dry. After doing everything I could, sweeping water away for so long and clearing the French drain, I came inside feeling defeated.

After I calmed down, I went back out and saw a miracle right before my eyes. The water that had been on the porch creeping toward our door was now flowing down the middle of the walkway, away from the door. The way it curved and changed direction was incredible.

It didn’t make sense. There is NO other explanation other than God. 🙏

When I told my friend what happened, she said, “I prayed for God to draw a line at the door and send it the other way.”

That is EXACTLY what happened.

He is so good, y’all. He hears our prayers, He cares about the details, and He is faithful. 💙 Whatever you’re facing right now, put it in His hands.

Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
