Old wives tale is the wild persimmon seeds hold a foretelling of what our winter will look like.
Knife: Icy
Spoon: Snow
Fork: Warm

Veronica and I were out hiking at Cibolo Nature Center in preparation for the upcoming level 4 Native Landscape Certification Program and found a few of these seeds to cut in half.

Yesterday sure turned out fun!

I put together a quick landscape design presentation when our expected speaker turned up sick.

I am so honored that I'm on that list of people to call for these kinds of things!

A big thank-you to Meghan Scott for stepping in at the last minute when our scheduled speaker had to cancel due to illness.

Meghan is a NPSOT-Boerne member and professional landscaper with Grounded Soul Garden Consultation, who incorporates native plants into her work. Sshe shared some great ideas with us about landscape design using native plants. We appreciated her willingness to jump in—and the chance to learn from someone who works with native plants and landscape design every day!

I told my husband I had a few plants for the front yard I wanted to get in before the rain 😂😂😂

I spend so much time in other people's yards that in 5 years I have only been replacing non-natives as they die. This year my husband and kiddo (aka boss man) helped me get rid of the rest of our grass and hard scape the front.

Now it's planting time! I plant close for a lot of my plants because I don't mind digging them up and moving them later.

I also need this to be VERY drought resistan.

My biggest goal is to prove to my neighbor that I *actually* do this as a career because I have been ignoring my yard the entire time we have lived here 😂

Who else had to look up Sycamore leaf Snowbell? 🤷🏼‍♀️🙋🏼‍♀️ It's actually endemic to this area which means it is not found anywhere else (naturally).

Let me know if you plan on picking some of these up and we can plan on a space for them together!
