A Special Night of Boutique Gamay Wines
Friday, April 4th – Tastings Boise
Gamay is having a renaissance. Long gone are the days of thin, forgettable wines from Beaujolais. Today, a new generation of winemakers is elevating the grape with organic farming, precise vineyard work, and cutting-edge winemaking. The result? World-class wines that are redefining what Gamay can be.
Join us for a curated tasting of five exceptional Gamays from France and the Pacific Northwest:
Wine #1 – Domaine de Colonat “Bon Appétit” 2023
We kick things off with a 97-point Morgon Cru Gamay that recently stole the spotlight on French television as the wine to pair with burgers. Incredible value, serious pedigree—this is Gamay fun and fresh, yet refined.
Wine #2 – Domaine de Colonat “Bon Vent” 2023
Named Best Gamay in the World at the International Gamay Competition—beating out 800+ wines—this Moulin-à-Vent Cru is a rare gem. We scooped up every bottle we could.
Wine #3 – Domaine de Colonat Morgon “Les Greneriers” 2023
A single-vineyard expression and the crown jewel of Thomas Collonge’s lineup. This Morgon Cru is a powerful, limited-production showcase of what Beaujolais can achieve in the right hands.
Wine #4 – Domaine de l’Ecu “Astra” 2018
A Loire Valley collaboration between Domaine de l’Ecu and Domaine Landron-Chartier. Sourced from a prestigious hillside vineyard and aged in amphora, this is a rare, numbered bottle offering a beautifully aged expression of Gamay unlike anything from Beaujolais.
Wine #5 – Hundred Suns Gamay 2023
From Oregon’s Willamette Valley, this single-vineyard Gamay is one of the best from the Pacific Northwest. Grown in the Aebishire Rd. vineyard, aged in a mix of amphora (20%) and neutral oak (80%), and crafted by one of Oregon’s most exciting small producers.
Taste five boutique Gamays from three leading regions—France’s Beaujolais and Loire Valley, and Oregon’s Willamette Valley. This is a rare opportunity to explore the nuance, depth, and charm of this under-the-radar varietal.
