I have a confession. When Knox pitched the shirt months ago, part of me was hoping it wouldn't work.

I wanted him to learn that the world says no sometimes. I wanted him to feel that sting a little, while the stakes were still small.

He got a completely different lesson.

You all said yes 203 times across 29 states. To an eight-year-old who picked the color, the concept, and the donation percentage himself.

Right now, the check, including V8's match, is sitting at $849.65. That number locks at 11:59pm CT on Friday, June 19.

This is the final week to be part of the number he writes on that check.

Starting early in the pens this morning at daybreak.

It’s a big day at V8 Ranch as we welcome 17 different families for our Private Treaty Sale Day. We’ve already had trailers loaded out before most folks were finishing their first cup of coffee, and the day is just getting started.

We appreciate everyone who has made the trip to spend the day with us. Looking forward to visiting, talking cattle, and helping these families find the right genetics for their programs.

Tomorrow officially kicks off our June Private Treaty event, featuring a select group of September-born Brahman females that are ready to go to work for their new owners.

We also had four appointment times become available for tomorrow.

For years, Marla Denby drove past the original V8 Ranch in Shelby County, Texas—living just a mile and a half away, hearing the stories. Knox came down for breakfast last weekend, looked at the laptop, and asked us, "Are these orders from real people?"

We told him yes.

Eight days in: ~145 shirts sold. 24 states. Knox's first $500 goal is almost there. And $314.47 is already headed to the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund.

So we had to draw a second thermometer.

The first thermometer was Knox's goal. The second one is the check he will hand to the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund at the National Junior Shorthorn Show on June 20.

We asked Knox over the weekend if we should take people off the list once they bought. Businesses normally do that.

He said no.

He wanted them to stay on it so they could celebrate with him.

Before 11:59pm CT on Friday, June 19, every shirt's SYDF gift gets matched dollar for dollar by V8 Ranch.

Every shirt adds $2.20 to the check. V8 matches it. That is $4.40 to SYDF per shirt.

A huge thank you from Knox.

Over the last few days, you've followed along as he designed a shirt, packed orders, wrote notes, made post office runs, and learned what it takes to turn an idea into something real.

What started as a simple goal has become so much more.

Thank you to everyone who ordered a shirt, shared a post, encouraged Knox, and helped support the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund along the way.

Watching him learn, work, and grow through this process has been pretty special.

83 shirts. 24 hours. Knox raised $173.73 for the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund — 34% of his $500 goal.

V8 Ranch matched him dollar for dollar. The check that goes to SYDF on June 20 is now $347.46.

When Knox asked us to help him launch this, we didn't know what to expect. We thought maybe his grandparents would buy a couple.

Instead, families from a dozen states placed orders today. Several of you bought full bundles for the whole family. Someone bought four shirts in the same size — we have questions but we're not asking them.

To everyone who bought one, shared the email, or sent the link to your group chat: you didn't just buy a shirt. You showed an eight-year-old that an idea can become a thing real people will pay for. That's a lesson we could not have taught him alone.

48 shirts in the first run. 10% of every sale to the Shorthorn Youth Development Fund — V8 Ranch matches it dollar-for-dollar through June 19. The combined check goes to SYDF in person at Junior Nationals on June 20.

He'd just finished his animal science degree at Texas A&M and came back to manage the purebred Brahman herd. He started implementing the strict selection and culling guidelines the program still follows today.
