Another nite of frost protecting the strawberries with overhead sprinkler irrigation. The low hit 19.6 degrees. This video was taken Saturday morning at 8 AM after almost 12 hours of irrigating all through Friday night and early Saturday morning. It made ice all night long, which is good cause that protects the buds, keeps them from dropping below the freezing point inside the ice covering. We hope all our fellow strawberry growers out there in the state of Wisconsin had a successful night of frost protecting their crops and hoping you can visit a strawberry farm near you soon.

Have you ever wondered what strawberry growers in Wisconsin do on cold frosty nights? Most likely running their frost protection systems (overhead irrigation) and monitoring it all nite long. Got down to 25.7 degrees in the fields Wednesday nite. Looks like more of the same every nite thru the weekend.
