I have been planning the bulls, planning the mamas, and waiting and waiting and waiting… I was having great calves, but I was still dreaming about those red and yellow tipped Highparks.
Today I spent all day looking for a calf I wasn’t even positive was here. I went home once thinking I was crazy, double checking my dates and knowing Jassy wasn’t supposed to calve until early October at the soonest. But about 30 minutes later there I was back on the 4 wheeler going though the pasture I just had a feeling and with the raining coming all night. I knew I had to keep looking.
Then there it was ….. my most favorite girls, my red Canadian who has ALWAYS given me perfect solid bulls, one after another had the sweetest surprise waiting for me. Hiding in the tall grass, way back in the corner of the pasture was the brightest white red tipped heifer.
This little girl may be tiny and a few weeks early but she’s strong, healthy, full of s***k, and eating great. She probably won’t need much help but we’re giving her a little extra TLC anyway.
