9 Line Wagyu

9 Line Wagyu Family owned and operated ranch that raises 100% fullblood Wagyu cattle the way nature intended.

Health and wellness have always been a part of Wes and Laura’s life. Both athletes from grade school to the collegiate levels, they’ve long searched for healthy food sources to compliment their active lifestyles. After living 16 years in Alaska where wild salmon, moose, and berries filled the freezer, moving to Florida in 2017 provided a new challenge: the absence of locally sourced quality food.

Wes and Laura met their ranch mentors, Brian and Renee Bouma, in 2019 and experienced what could realistically be described as a life changing moment when they enjoyed their first Fullblood Wagyu steak from the Bouma’s ranch, 2 Sisters Ranch in Bend, Oregon. Shortly thereafter, 45 of the finest animals from the Bouma’s world class herd were relocated to the Madden’s farm in Bonifay, Florida and 9 Line Farms was born.

One of the best sounds you can hear on a cattle operation… a calf finally nursing a bottle again after battling scours.

Scours is a severe form of diarrhea in young calves, usually caused by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or nutritional stress. It can quickly lead to dehydration, weakness, loss of electrolytes, and if left untreated, can become fatal in a very short amount of time.

That’s why hearing a calf start sucking a bottle again is such a big deal. It means they’re beginning to regain strength, hydrate, and fight their way back.

At 9 Line Farms, every life matters. Moments like this may seem small to some people, but in ranching they can mean everything. 🐄💪

We had out at the farm last week for a full site visit—talking everything from soil health and forage quality to genetics, breeding strategy, and processing.

When you’re serious about raising the best, you don’t guess. You get better.

Always learning. Always refining. Always raising the bar.

Huge thank you to Andrew and Nicole for your time, insight, and for pushing us to be better every step of the way.

Because when the soil is right…
everything else follows. Better soil → better grass → better cattle → better beef
That’s the whole game.

This tree spade attachment is something straight out of Transformers. Half expected Bumblebee to roll up at any minute.

Watching it lift a 15-foot cedar like it’s nothing is kind of wild.

We relocated five cedars yesterday from the back of the property up to the road fence line. They’ll help with dust, give the cows a little protection, and eventually make the whole place look even better.

About twenty more to go. 😅

I love that we can move what’s already growing here and give it a new purpose.

Last night at the Holmes County Winter Cattle Meeting 🤍 Huge thanks to University of Florida Ag Extension for all they do for our local ag community.
Great meeting fellow cattlemen and being reminded why we love what we do.

I can’t believe I’ve never cooked Wagyu tongue before.

We haven’t even had these on the website. It’s always been one of those if you know, you know cuts—quietly going to customers who specifically ask for it. Highly requested. Highly respected. And honestly? A little intimidating.

But nutritionally, it delivers.
High in collagen for joints and connective tissue.
Rich in vitamin B12, iron, and zinc for energy and metabolic health. And because it’s Wagyu, the fat profile matters—higher in monounsaturated fat, including oleic acid, for better fuel and satiety.

It’s a tongue. But it’s amazing!!
And now I totally get why people love it.

We don’t raise fullblood Wagyu because it’s easy, affordable, or always fun. We do it because our food system is broken — and we wanted to do something about it.

Yesterday’s release of the new food pyramid was a big moment. Protein and healthy fats are finally back where they belong.

Nutrient-dense, bioavailable food can be delicious.
Your body deserves to be fueled by the best beef in the world. 🥩
