As our 2026 nuc season comes to a close, we want to share what a nuc is, why they’re important, and who buys them.
A nuc (nucleus colony) is a small, productive package of bees with brood, food stores, and a laying queen—an efficient way to jump-start a healthy colony or expand your apiary. Nucs matter because they give new and experienced beekeepers a strong start, help establish resilient colonies, and serve as a practical bridge for those building pollination fleets or replacing aging hives. Our nuc buyers range from hobbyists and backyard keepers to commercial beekeepers and beekeeping supply stores.
A huge shout-out to our incredible crew—this has been our busiest season yet, and your hard work, dedication, and craftsmanship in every nuc built—day and night—made it possible. Thank you for the long hours and teamwork that kept us moving forward. To our customers, whether you purchased 1 nuc or several hundred, your continued support means everything to us. We’re honored to be part of your apiary journey and grateful for the trust you’ve placed in Choctaw Bee Company. We logged over 3,000 miles in deliveries this spring, working around the clock to get nucs to you when you needed them.
On a personal note, nucs are where we started beekeeping in 2018. If you’re just getting started yourself, sky is the limit. Stay tuned for 2027 nucs and what we will be offering next year.
From our hive to yours, thank you! 🐝 🇺🇸
