We have made the decision to get out of breeding show pigs. So with that, are any of my pig friends interested in one, two, or three beautiful sows??? They have been great moms and have thrown grand and reserve grand champions in their litters. I’d hate to see them be turned into sausage, but that is our next option. Pictures upon request.

It was a busy day on the farm. Israel’s gilt from fair had 14 babies. 13 alive. We’ve since lost one and the runt is being given the best fighting chance possible. 🤞🏼
We are excited to see what these babies do. Here is to hoping our next litters go as well.

We are so proud of all of the kids that raised beautiful 4J show pigs this year. Boundary County Fair 2021 did not disappoint!

2021 farrowing was tough. We lost an entire litter, had a sow who wouldn’t take her litter of 12, and a sow that farrowed hard and needed much assistance. This left us with very few pigs to sell.

So needless to say, we are absolutely thrilled that with the 10 pigs of ours at the fair, 6 were in the top 15. With the highest standing being Israel with a 3rd place overall finish and Gaige with 4th.

We can’t wait to see what happens next year!

Farrowing season did not have the start that we had hoped for. Our mama didn’t want to go into labor. We had been checking her around the clock since day 111 of her gestation. A pig is typically pregnant for 112-116 days. With each passing day we began to worry that something was wrong. Several calls to the vet later, we decided to induce her and she went into labor last night on day 119. She quickly birthed a stout little female, and then nothing. After not so patiently waiting for another piglet I had to pull a still born second piglet. And then nothing. We waited. Checked her again. Waited some more, and then she passed the afterbirth. Two piglets and only one alive.

This pig farming can be so stressful, exhausting, and disheartening at times. However, we woke up this morning to mama and her baby content and happy as can be. And that is beautiful. We are praying that our other upcoming deliveries are much smoother.

We are so thankful for all of the buyers who supported the kids by buying animals; however, we are extra thankful for South Hill Meat Locker and Boundary Abstract for buying OUR pigs. It was a pleasure to hand deliver thank you gifts to these amazing businesses today.

If you were lucky enough to be at, or watch the animal auction for the Boundary County Fair then you understand how amazing our community is. The sale price that the youth received tonight was absolutely amazing, with the average price for pigs being around $8 per pound. I am so grateful to be living in a community that supports our children. Thank you, just doesn’t seem to be enough. ❤️

In 2018 we started a new adventure of breeding show pigs. Or so we thought. We had the sows, and selected some of the best sire boars available. However, we were unsuccessful in the AI process and had zero piglets to account for a LOT of time, effort, and energy.

So we spent most of 2019 making a game plan to try again. We acquired better sows, a boar, and did our research. We were successful! All of our sows took and we were blessed with 3 litters in January 2020. To say it was a busy time on the farm was an understatement.

At the end of March we said goodbye to all but 3 of our cute little babies as the rest went on to their show families. Fast forward to today. I could not be more pleased with how well all of the kids did with their swine projects. From Fitting and Showing to Quality these kids and pigs did a great job!

We wanted to start this page, so that friends and family could stay up to date with what continues to happen on the farm. We are already looking forward to next year. We hope to provide an even better, local, show pig for the 2021 Fair season. Don’t waist time, contact us to get added to our pig list.
