What a fantastic year at the Boundary County Fair!

We are incredibly proud of Avery, who earned Reserve Grand Champion in both Market Beef Quality and Showmanship! We are so thankful for all the time, hard work and care she put into her steer this year.

Congratulations also to Gabriel Warren, who earned Grand Champion Market Beef Quality, and Randi Hibbard, who earned Grand Champion Beef Showmanship! These young people worked incredibly hard, and it was wonderful to see their efforts recognized.

A huge thank-you to Foust, Inc. for purchasing Avery’s steer, and to Dillon Mai, who represented Foust at the auction and placed the winning bid. Your generous support of our local youth means so much!

We would also like to thank Market Beef leaders Liz Wood and Maureen Mai for the many hours they devoted to helping and encouraging the kids. Thank you to all the parents, exhibitors, leaders, volunteers, buyers and supporters—and to everyone working behind the scenes whose efforts may not always be noticed. It takes an entire community to make the fair such a wonderful experience.

It truly was a fantastic fair, and we are so grateful to be part of it!

Wednesday night is one we won't soon forget.

The Turner Hill Fire moved with incredible speed. One moment everything was normal, and the next we were being told to evacuate. We had to think through how or if to move animals, what to pack, and what to do next.

Within minutes, our phones began exploding with messages. Friends, neighbors, customers, family, and even complete strangers offered trailers, trucks, places to stay, help moving livestock, meals, and countless prayers. Many people just showed up at the farm. We were overwhelmed by the kindness shown to our family.

After much prayer, we made the decision to stay and care for our animals. It was a long, anxious night with very little sleep. The next day, watching planes and helicopters make pass after pass—drawing water from the river and dropping retardant—was a powerful reminder of the incredible people who risk their own safety to protect ours.

By God's grace, we are safe, our family is safe, and our animals are safe. The fire did not touch our property. We hear that no structures have been lost in Boundary county, either.

We believe with all our hearts that God is sovereign. We saw His hand of protection over us, and we felt the power of so many people praying. We are deeply grateful to Him for His mercy.

At the same time, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to every firefighter, pilot, helicopter crew, law enforcement officer, emergency responder, dispatcher, and volunteer who worked tirelessly through the night. Thank you to our neighbors who showed up, checked on us, those who offered trailers and equipment, those who opened their homes, those who sent messages of encouragement, and those who simply stopped to pray.

This experience reminded us what a special community we live in. When people are in need, this community shows up.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. We are humbled, grateful, and continuing to pray for everyone still affected by this fire and for those who are still working to contain it.

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble." — Psalm 46:1
